The Position
Kaufman, Hall & Associates, LLC, is seeking a Senior Associate who will be a significant contributor to our Non-Labor competency within Kaufman Hall’s Revenue & Operations Improvement practice. The position demands a strong Non-Labor background and experience in leading supply chain initiatives. In short order, the successful candidate will be expected to lead Non-Labor initiatives within client engagements with minimal oversight. The Consultant will be fully capable of presenting to senior management teams and be able to drive the organization to decisions around critical issues, simultaneously managing multiple initiatives within client engagements with a variety of staff. The ideal candidate will possess a strong ability to collaborate with and facilitate supply chain discussions among providers across the care spectrum, including physicians, nurses, other allied providers, and vendors. The essential functions of the position are:
  • Oversight and or/delivery of data management activities which encompass client data requests, collecting data from clients and other sources, clarifying and resolving data issues, maintaining source data and maintaining version control
  • Leadership related to data analysis and propriety tool(s) and benchmarks, including:
    • Expense trend analyses at the financial statement and general ledger level of detail
    • Identifying idiosyncrasies and trends in expense data
    • Coordinating data preparation and submission into proprietary tool(s)
    • Accessing and manipulating tool(s) to mine opportunities
    • Researching appropriate benchmarks for comparison; in addition, creating and maintaining benchmarking repositories
    • Preparing accurate and detailed analyses; drawing conclusions from the analyses and making inferences/suggestions as it relates to overall expense and opportunities
  • Ensuring quality control of client data files, analyses, and deliverables
  • Creating reports for assessments and client deliverables, specifically including the Interpretation of data and the translation of detailed analysis into consequential summary hypotheses and findings via draft internal and client PowerPoint presentations 
  • Assisting in the development and management of key engagement project management tools, templates, and reports
  • Contributing to internal innovation by leading or assisting in development or enhancement of new or existing proprietary tools, templates, reports, and processes
  • Assisting in the day-to-day requirements of multiple engagements; oversight of KHA resources and collaboration with client(s) for successful delivery
  • Delivering high quality work with timeliness and integrity
  • Affinity for mentoring and developing junior staff in the pursuit of building the practice team

Qualifications
  • A minimum of three years of progressive experience in a healthcare provider or consulting role with a strong understanding of healthcare industry and physician/hospital clinical supplies, services, and operations with a specific focus on Non-Labor
  • Familiarity with the operating room, nursing care environment, and/or cardiac catheterization lab highly preferred
  • Familiarity or competencies in change and project management preferred
  • Familiarity with Group Purchasing Organization contracting methodologies preferred
  • Excellent quantitative skills and strong knowledge of accounting and finance and the link to healthcare operations
  • Ability to interpret vendor contracts and associated invoices
  • Ability to interpret data and provide relevant conclusions and recommendations
  • Ability to learn in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects with competing priorities 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to excellence
  • Willingness and ability to travel, at times on short notice
  • Ability to thrive and excel in a matrixed or multi-priority environment with proven ability to collaborate and contribute to the development of strong project teams
  • Advanced skillset in Microsoft Office Tools
  • Familiarity with Salesforce preferred

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree highly preferred
Physical Requirements 
  • Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.
  • Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
Work Environment 
  • Travel Required: 75% or more; travel typically driven by client preference
  • When not travelling to a client site, the role is remote.
  • Work is regularly performed in a combination of office, home office, and client settings, and routinely uses standard office equipment.
  • It may require the maintenance of a home office and proximity to an airport for work related travel.
