The Position
The Claro Healthcare practice is looking for remote CDI Clinicians to join our team-based environment and be responsible for conducting CDI inpatient chart reviews as part of our project-based consulting engagements. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Review charts to ensure documentation is complete, accurate and reflects the severity of illness and resources used
  • Identify opportunities for improved documentation in the medical record to more accurately reflect the acuity and complexity of the patient and the care provided
  • Participate in team-based peer reviews
  • Create, edit and finalize chart review findings that are shared with our clients
  • Participate in multiple engagements
  • Participate in limited remote client support activities
  • Continue to learn and grow CDI skills and knowledge
While the primary focus will be on supporting the chart review efforts, other job duties may include building education decks, answering clinical questions, doing research or on rare occasions mentoring or teaching our clients.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Clinical credential RN or MD (open to LPN or Coders if they have the right level of experience)
  • 3 years of hospital-based CDI experience
  • Experience in larger hospitals, healthcare systems and/or academic hospital settings is desired
  • Prior consulting experience preferred
  • A CDIP or CCDS certification is preferred
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
  • Ability to team effectively with people of various disciplines and backgrounds is essential
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and be resourceful
  • Experience/knowledge of regulatory compliance issues facing the healthcare industry
  • Client travel is not required for this role
  • Travel up to 1-2 weeks a year as they would be expected to attend Firm Wide Annual Training in and any IP Clinical team training
  • Preference is Eastern, Central or Mountain time zonesmust be available during standard business hours

Education
  • BSN, BA, MBA, MA or MS from an accredited college/university is desired
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations
  • Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading
Work Environment
  • The role is remotely based
  • Work is regularly performed in a combination of home office and client settings, and routinely uses standard office equipment
  • May require the maintenance of a home office and proximity to an airport for work related travel
