SUMMARY

The Software Engineer II will update and/or modify classroom, performance support, and self-paced training products to modern delivery methods. He or she supports the design and development teams with the effective formulation of interactive multimedia instruction (IMI) and computer-based training (CBT) products derived from sound instructional system design.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Update, design, develop, produce, and integrate IMI and CBT, incorporating interactions, graphics, pre-rendered images, audio, video, and text, and animations for IMI/CBT.
• Develop software solutions utilizing new and emerging tools and methodologies.
• Work in team environment to plan, design, develop, test and document up to Level IV IMI (game-based, virtual, and/or mobile applications).
• Implement effective software in accordance with instructional design requirements/constraints.
• Work with storyboards and models to design the software development approach.
• Interpret technical documentation and work in conjunction with instructional systems designers, modelers, and multi-media specialists to develop accurate and effective IMI/CBT.
• Team support includes developing graphics, animations, textures, pre-rendered images, audio, and text incorporated into interactive training solutions.
• Formulate and design software system, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.
• Develop, research, design, implement, test, and evaluate software products by applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, software engineering, or equivalent field.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance (potentially up to a Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance) (U.S. Citizenship required).
• Three to five years of experience developing, testing, and installing software.
• Familiar with program languages such as XML, HTML, HTML5, CSS and JavaScript.
• Familiar with development tools: Apache, PHP, Perl, SQL, and Open GL.
• Expertise with Unity a must.
• Experience with developing Mobile learning content and Apps.
• Experience developing SCORM and xAPI (and LRS) learning solutions.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Navy and/or DoD experience preferred.
• DoD 8570 Level II certification preferred.
• Superior time management and organizational skills.
• Strong written and presentation skills.

TRAVEL

The expected travel time is less than 25%.

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS

Must have or be able to attain a valid state driver’s license and be insurable on the company’s automobile insurance policy.

Driving, with or without accommodation, may be required when traveling for training and/or short occasional amounts of local driving. The expected driving time is less than 25%. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Frequent sitting, using hands/fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, talking, hearing and seeing up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth perception and the ability to adjust focus; occasional walking or standing, occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
