Katmai is Hiring a Project Accounting Technician Near Anchorage, AK

Job Description:

Under the general direction of the Project Accountant Manager, you will be responsible for setting up projects in the accounting system, billing and recognizing revenue for various types of contracts, preparing accruals as necessary, and providing subsidiaries with contract-specific procedures to ensure compliance with contract specifications.

The typical day-to-day:

  • Set up contracts in the accounting system, Costpoint, which includes: setting up of contracts to detail level specified in the contract, assignment of project numbers, establishing invoicing requirements and billing formats per contract requirements, and establishing workforce at various project levels.
  • Communicate contract-specific information to other departments and subsidiaries. Liaison with accounting staff and subsidiaries on contract-specific issues.
  • Ensure all contract-related files are received.
  • Align all pricing to include labor categories with contracts.
  • Enter contract modifications into the system and prepare worksheets to track funding.
  • Prepare monthly accurate and timely invoices in accordance with contract terms and conditions.
  • Prepare monthly accurate and timely revenue calculations.
  • Prepare reclasses and expense accruals as needed.
  • Support projects until closeout of contracts.
  • Assist in preparing the Incurred Cost Submissions.
  • Assist with gathering data for monthly/quarterly/annual analysis.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Two years of post-secondary education with experience noted above. A Bachelor’s degree in any area of Finance or Accounting is preferred. In lieu of a degree, four years of relevant accounting experience is required.
  • Minimum two years of additional relevant work experience.
  • Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and Outlook.

Desired Qualifications & Skills:

  • Deltek/Costpoint & Cognos Reporting experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work well in group problem-solving situations.
  • Ability to write clearly and present numerical data effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret written information and apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and make sound business decisions based on that data.
  • Thorough knowledge of standard contract terms.
