Karuna Therapeutics is Hiring a Manager, Learning and Development Near Boston, MA

Position: Manager, Learning and Development

Position Summary

The Training Manager of Learning and Development will play a key role in preparing and training Karuna's commercial sales teams for the potential launch of a new treatment in the neuroscience therapeutic area. They will work closely with Marketing, Field Sales, Human Resources, and Medical/Legal/Regulatory to help design, build, and implement the product and skills training to support the brand strategy. This role will function as a partner to the field and will serve to facilitate feedback from the commercial sales team to help ensure all learning and development needs are being met after launch.

This role requires strong interpersonal, facilitation and communication skills with the proven ability to collaborate at all levels. The person filling this role must be able to take initiative, lead without authority and thrive in a fast-paced, fast changing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of, and implement, the Karuna Therapeutics Commercial Sales training curriculum, including product launch, POAs, and ongoing skills training throughout the year
  • Deliver effective facilitation, presentation, and coaching skills throughout training initiatives, providing constructive feedback to participants and managers as necessary
  • Work closely with the marketing team to identify and implement initiatives that drive business success
  • Update training programs and curricula as necessary, based on performance metrics and needs assessments
  • Ensure that all training initiatives and programs are fully supported and documented within compliance standards
  • Serve as a role model for behavior that is consistent with the mission, vision, and values of the organization
  • Attend major medical meetings, as well as training development meetings (ex. LTEN)
  • Support the development and delivery of effective training programs, including engagement models, product training, etc.
  • Light administration of the Learning Management System
  • Partner closely with field leadership to identify gaps and needs of the salesforce
  • Conduct field rides with sales team
  • Manage vendor relations when necessary

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in life sciences or management
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a commercial field trainer, experience in curriculum development and delivery is required
  • Strong clinical skills; CNS/ Psychiatry experience preferred
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and on a team; positive, team-focused approach is essential
  • Successful experience in delivering educational training in an adult learning environment
  • Strong understanding of training technologies and their optimal uses
  • Computer aptitude with appropriate software programs, Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Veeva suite is required.
  • Exceptional facilitation, presentation, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Travel required for home office weeks, live trainings, meetings, and field visits (approx. 50% travel)
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, allowing for an open and effective dialogue throughout the company
  • Attention to detail and quality are critical to success
  • Highly accountable for the results and outcomes of their responsibilities and understands the impact of their efforts, results, and attitudes on others
  • Uses teamwork to work cooperatively toward the most effective solutions, championing the best ideas of team members, and assisting where help is needed yet is capable of highly independent work when efficiency is required
  • Results-oriented individual who is highly motivated, decisive, flexible in thought, and has the creativity to excel in and contribute to a rapidly growing company
  • Forward thinking mindset with the ability to manage multiple projects, and identify and resolve issues
  • Broad experience in an emerging, publicly traded company environment is a plus
