Kanuga Conferences Inc. is Hiring a Garden Assistant Near Hendersonville, NC
- Maintain a healthy, productive, and visually appealing garden by watering beds, weeding, managing pests, harvesting produce, composting, and monitoring weather for sudden storms or heatwaves.
- Operate powered tools such as string trimmers, tillers, and lawn mowers.
- Organize and coordinate garden schedules with Kanuga programs, oversee open garden hours, and facilitate community volunteer days.
- Assist in weekly flower/veggie sales and farmers' markets.
- Coordinate produce delivery to the conference center kitchen.
- Arrange compost pickups with the conference center.
- Serve as a resource for gardening and local food landscape inquiries from guests.
- Exemplify positive behavior and attitude as a role model for campers, guests, and staff.
- Warm and engaging personality with excellent communication skills.
- Previous gardening or farming experience.
- Experience working with children and adults outdoors.
- Background in biology, education, or community engagement preferred.
- Completion of two years of college/university in a related field preferred.
- Current CPR and first aid certification.
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions, respond to first aid situations, and lift >50 lbs.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
- Shared room in staff cabins with free WiFi.
- Three meals per day, seven days per week.
