Kanga Pest Control is Hiring a Pest Control Technician Near Portland, OR

Job Posting – Experienced Pest Control Technician

No previous experience is required! We are looking for service technicians to provide pest control service for our customers in the greater Portland area. All training is provided and fully paid! A company vehicle is provided for you to complete your work.

This is an hourly position with starting pay of $22 an hour (up to $26 with previous experience), and eligible for approximately 200 hours of overtime per year. Total expected compensation is between $55,000 and $60,00 per year.

Typical work hours are 40-45 hours per week during the colder months, and 45-50 hours per week during the warmer months. Your day would start no later than 8am and end around 5 or 6pm Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays during the warmer months (3-4 Saturdays per year).

What does a pest control technician do??

 Talks with customers to understand their pest problems and identify areas of the property where they are seeing activity.

 Inspects the property for pest entry points and perform minor exclusion work to seal entry points to prevent pest entry.

 Places monitoring stations to track pest activity for identification and treatment.

 Performs pesticide treatments to prevent pest entry and to treat current activity for pests such as roaches, rodents (mice and rats), mosquitos, ticks, ants, spiders, and stinging insects to keep families and children safe.

 Sets rodent devices to eliminate rodent activity.

 Removes and disposes of deceased pests such as rodents and stinging insects.

Job Duties include:

 15 hours a week performing preventive pest control services at residential locations (single family homes and townhomes) and commercial locations (office buildings, apartments, small retail locations, etc.)

o All stops are in the greater Portland area, as far south as Eugene, and up to the Washington State line

 15 hours a week driving between customers locations

 3 hours a week visiting current residential customers between scheduled visits to assess pest problems and provide treatment to solve their pest issues (call-backs)

 2 hours a week completing a one-time pest control service (non-recurring job work)

 2 hours a week meeting with potential residential customers to talk to them about pest control and close the sale, performing the initial service (new start) while on site

 On a bi-weekly basis:

o Company Staff Meeting

 Ongoing:

o Continuing education/training to increase your knowledge relating to pest control and entomology

 Other duties as required

Our ideal candidate has strong customer service skills and enjoys helping customers with whatever they need.

Proficiency with an iPhone smartphone is preferred, and is used daily in this role. Previous experience with using FieldRoutes is a plus.

Our technicians receive a company vehicle to drive between customer locations. After you complete your training (4-8 weeks), you will be eligible to take your vehicle home after each workday and commute to your first stop from your home (until then you will start your day from our Canby office). Our usual technician vehicles are Toyota Tacomas or Chevy Colorados. You would typically be scheduled for 8-12 stops per day.
