The Role
You will contribute to the design development and testing of avionic components of major satellite subsystems. This role will support manufacturing and development of the K2 Mega-class satellite and future generations of the spacecraft. As an essential part of the engineering team, the ideal candidate will require technician proficiency, hands-on experience, and a high level of attention to detail to ensure quality and reliability of electrical components and systems.
Responsibilities
Assist design engineering teams prototyping, building, and testing of electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies
Troubleshoot, repair, and modify electronic components, assemblies, parts, and systems
Assemble wire harnesses from assembly drawings and electrical schematics
Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems encountered during testing of electronic assemblies
Process PCBs using methods such as conformal coating, staking, and soldering
Assemble, modify, and repair mechanical enclosures parts
Assist in developmental testing of electro-mechanical assemblies
Perform electrical checkouts using electronic test equipment such as ohmmeters, oscilloscopes, DMM, continuity checkers, and clamp meters
Flash firmware and perform software loading verification under direction of engineering
Support production operations including integration of electro-mechanical components onto a fully integrated satellite system
Support production transition from engineering development and initial production to full rate production
Qualifications
5 years of experience assembling, integrating, and testing electronic hardware in the aerospace industry
Proficiency with computers and ability to use MS Office and shop floor management software
Demonstrate high level of ownership and problem-solving abilities
Demonstrated skill and proficiency in soldering and crimping as well as assembling cable harnesses and connectors
Nice to Have
IPC Certified for PCB and cable harness rework (IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620)
Wire harness experience in accordance with NASA-STD-8739.3 and 8739.4 and/or IPC-A-620 standards
Hand soldering ability that meets IPC J-STD
Experience performing crimping, wire stripping, continuity testing, connector pin outs, and routing and tie wrapping
Able to set up and use a torque wrench and other hand tools such as: wrenches and safety wire pliers
Able to drill and tap holes and use common shop equipment such as drill press, grinders, and band saws
Ability to read, review, and redline electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
Experience with various potting and encapsulation techniques for cables and enclosures
Ability to work independently with a strong work ethic, have initiative, and team oriented
Strong communication skills with ability to communicate hardware and systems problems
Additional Requirements
Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed
Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces
Must be able to lift and carry parts or equipment up to 25 lbs. unassisted
Compensation and Benefits:
Hourly pay range for this non-exempt role is $40 - $45 equity in the company
Compensation will be based on several factors including, but not limited to: knowledge and skills, education, and experience level
