JWCH Institute is Hiring a Child Care Worker Near Los Angeles, CA

Position Purpose:

The Childcare Workers provides child care and care coordination for the children of men and women enrolled in Outpatient Substance Abuse Program in Compton, California. The Child Care Worker upholds the JWCH mission to improve the health status and wellbeing of under-served segments of the population of Los Angeles County. Principal Responsibilities:

  1. Work collaboratively with Outpatient Program team members.
  2. Provide childcare to infants, toddlers and school age children while mother and/or father are attending group therapy and individual counseling.
  3. Ensuring the children have good hygiene and changing diapers as necessary.
  4. Supervise and monitor the safety of children in their care.
  5. Cleaning interactive areas throughout the day.
  6. Preparing meals, bottles and snacks for the children.
  7. Organizing activities and developing curriculum for older children.
  8. Developing a schedule for the children to maintain throughout the day.
  9. Keeping records of each child’s progress, interests and any problems that may occur.
  10. Building rapport with the parents to ensure they understand the parameters of child care.
  11. Caring and compassionate attitude when interacting with and caring for children.
  12. Provide case management services to the children of clients enrolled in program.
  13. Create a database of community resources for children and their families.
  14. Facilitate an interactive group with parent and child on how to read to your child, listening to music and play games.
  15. Work together with team to develop family activities such as reading time, board games, mealtime and other appropriate activities.
  16. Assist with organizing 2-4 Family Events a year (onsite or offsite).
  17. Coordinate and manage donations for participants of program.
  18. Supervise the ongoing development and quality assurance of the child care program services in conjunction with the Program Coordinator.
  19. Ensure organization’s adherence to all state, county and federal treatment standards and regulations.
  20. Monitor the program and clients for safety, quality and zero tolerance to the presence of drugs and alcohol in or around the program and premises.
  21. Discusses all client information only with appropriate program personnel when related to the care being provided.
  22. Maintains confidentiality for all documents that contain patient identifier information.
  23. Observes and respects confidentiality of information in regards to fellow employees.
  24. Maintains standards of cleanliness, organization for work station, community room and other areas of use
  25. Completes addiction and cultural competency trainings effectively and efficiently, and other required trainings each fiscal year.
  26. Demonstrates effective working relations and works effectively as part of the team to facilitate the organization’s ability to meet goals and objectives.
  27. Projects a positive professional image and adheres to organizational dress code.
  28. Will work offsite as needed and in the community (walking or driving).
  29. Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  1. Associates Arts Degree in Child Development
  2. Registered Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor: Must be registered by one of the agencies accredited by the NCCA and recognized by DHCS, which include CADTP and CCAPP; and who must adhere to all requirements of the California Code of Regulations, Title 9, Chapter 8 and Title 9.
  3. CPR and First Aid certification
  4. Minimum of two years’ experience working with infants and children
  5. Knowledge of addiction, trauma, homelessness, and DCFS
  6. Bilingual (English/Spanish) ability.

Employees working 30 hours per week or more are provided a monthly allowance which can be used towards medical, dental, vision, and life insurance premiums. In addition JWCH offers a 401(k) Profit Sharing plan to employees who work a minimum of 1,000 hours per fiscal year.
