Scope of Position

The Assistant Director of Security will assist the Director of Security in managing security operations daily. Areas of responsibility include safety of property assets, Associates, and guests. He/she will maintain logs, certifications and documents required by law as well as training and ensuring that Associates are following the standard operating procedures.

Position Requirements

• Prior experience in luxury hotel resort/environment is a plus.
• Minimum (3) years of management experience in the safety/security/loss prevention field.
• Safety Certifications preferred.
• OSHA/First Aid/CPR experience preferred.
• Ability to effectively deal with internal and external clients to defuse anger and collect accurate information.
• Must have the ability to analyze information from several sources and to make rapid accurate decisions based on the information gained.
• Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Must have the ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist in administering fire prevention programs and emergency preparedness.
• Assist the Director of Security in the oversight of all loss prevention operations to include but not limited to; patrol process, emergency response, investigations (initial & follow up) for all guest and Internal Guest related incidents, electronic key system.
• Assist the Director of Security in training all Internal Guests on the OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration).
• Routinely train the loss prevention department and other property departments on topics related to safety and security.
• Comply with applicable federal, state and local law and safety regulations.
• Follow proper key control guidelines in loss prevention and in the property.
• Monitor monthly checklist for all CCTV equipment, alarmed doors, and duress alarms to ensure they are fully functional.
• Follow Duty of Care process for the protection of External and Internal Guests.
• Follow up on all unusual activities in and around the property that would impair the wellbeing of guests and Internal Guests.
• Handle complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances and conflicts.
• Implement action plans to monitor and control risk.
• Oversee first aid program for guests and Internal Guests.
• Emphasize teamwork, close working relationships with other departments and assertive hospitality to serve as a deterrent to crime.
• Train all new hires on loss prevention policies and procedures.
• Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.

Education

• High school diploma or GED; 4 years of experience in the security/loss prevention or related professional area.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to communicate in the English language. Second language is a plus.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends and able to perform multiple tasks.
• Experience using computers and software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
• Must be physically fit to lift, pull and push items up to 100lbs.
• Also requires standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout shift.
