Organizational Overview 
Just Compassion is a coalition of religious, service, civic and business organizations that have joined together to network and share resources. We strive to create a safe and hospitable environment and a community centered response to the needs of those without homes and those living in poverty in East Washington County, Oregon. Our primary service areas are Tigard, Tualatin, Sherwood and Beaverton.
What Does Just Compassion Do?  We are a team of caring and motivated people that work to develop trusting relationships and assist unhoused guests as they work to rebuild healthy and sustainable lives and obtain appropriate housing. We provide a range of resources, including prepared meals, showers and hygiene supplies, monthly access to laundry services, onsite case managers, overnight shelter, and severe weather shelter.
What Will the Development Coordinator Do? The Development Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the fundraising efforts of Just Compassion. They work with a team of professionals to develop and implement strategies that will raise funds for the organization. They also are tasked with managing relationships with donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders. That might include developing plans for how individuals can best contribute to the organization’s goals and coordinating events or meetings where they can engage with one another.
Position Description 
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and engaged Development Coordinator. The Development Coordinator is part of a dynamic team that will work together to expand essential daily living services for unhoused adults. This position works closely with the Executive Director, Capital Campaign Committee, Board Chair, Board of Directors and staff and volunteers to help keep the capital campaign on schedule and progressing at a momentum that engenders a sense of excitement, optimism, and confidence in achieving the campaign goal. This position is focused on collaborating and building relationships and requires excellent organization, communication, problem solving, and networking skills.
The Development Coordinator’s essential duties include and are not limited to:
  • Major gift/investment strategy
  • Prospect identification
  • Preparation of materials for major donor meetings
  • Maintain records of the meetings and follow-up actions
  • Manage preparation and record next steps for major donor strategy meetings
  • Campaign Committee Coordination
  • Schedule committee meetings and ensure that all preparatory materials are complete
  • Attend each meeting and track follow-up items 
  • Organize and monitor volunteer assignments and follow-up
  • Communication and Marketing
  • Assist the committee in executing a capital campaign communications plan
  • Coordinate campaign-related events
  • Helps maintain integration of programs to facilitate donor and donor prospect communication
  • Database Management and Administration
  • Work with staff to acknowledge all campaign gifts and pledges and prepare pledge payment reminders and pledge agreements
  • Work with the Capital Campaign and Development Committees to ensure that all campaign donations and investments are recognized and appreciated
  • Maintain ongoing Campaign progress dashboards
  • Collaborate with the Development Committee to ensure all databases are up to date. 
Minimum Skills, Qualifications, and Abilities 
  • 1 years experience in working on or supporting fundraising and project management.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Collaborative self-starter.
  • Intermediate level skills for online and digital communication, organization, problem-solving and networking. 
  • Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills, Qualifications, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or other related fields.
  • 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience conducting prospect identification and research for development goals.
  • Experience working on or supporting capital campaigns.
  • Familiarity with Mail Chimp, the Little Green Light system or management of other database/CRM systems.
