Juniper Networks is a leading provider of networking hardware and systems, headquartered in Sunnyvale, CA. We have an immediate need at our Sunnyvale, CA location for a highly skilled and experienced individual to lead the Mechanical Design team. This position reports to the Senior Director of System Technologies, a subgroup of Juniper's Silicon & System Technologies department in AWAN BU. The main objective of this team is to apply principles of mechanical engineering to develop practical solutions to the very demanding requirements for Juniper products, and to support the ASIC & Hardware design teams in ensuring that the mechanical design is properly executed.

This is an excellent opportunity for the right person who is passionate about building critical infrastructure hardware; that powers large portion of the internet today; provides last mile connectivity through WIFI access points and secures the entire network. The successful candidate will be a key member of the System Technologies leadership team, responsible for all aspects of mechanical design and analysis of all Juniper products. The role will have ~15 design and analysis engineers reporting directly, while another 5 mechanical engineers reporting dotted line. The selected candidate will work closely with Hardware Engineering Leaders & Architects to drive the next generation product roadmap for Juniper.

Job Description:

Must be a self-motivated individual to work in a fast-paced high energy environment with short product development cycles. This person must have project management skills including creating budget, resources assignment, schedules, as well as people management.

The job requires experience as Mechanical Manager responsible for leading a large team for design and development of rack mounted networking products. Also, the candidate must be very hands-on and not only have experience of designing products but also putting products through regulatory compliance tests.

The job also requires coaching Jr. engineers and reviewing the design of engineers before design get released for prototyping.

Job function involves interaction with other functional groups and coordination with outside design resources.

Experience:

Must have minimum of 20 years of experience which includes at least 5 years as manager of 10 team and 10 years' experience in electro-mechanical design with a concentration in either networking or storage or server products.

A working knowledge of sheet metal design and manufacturing processes for low and mid volume production is a must. Excellent understanding of electro-mechanical packaging, manufacturing processes, tolerance analysis, thermal design, Power, NEBS and EMI issues. Understanding of high-speed signal routings and large system installation in Data Center & Telco industries are preferable.

Must be a present user of a 3D solids modeling package, proficiency with Solidworks would be preferable and working knowledge of EPDM is plus.

Must be able to do Tolerance Analysis of complex systems and have working knowledge of FEA.

Experience with IDF & ECAD-MCAD transfer process is preferred.

Education:

BSME is required and MSME is preferred.

Minimum Salary: $207,200.00

Maximum Salary:$297,850.00

The pay range for this position is expected to be between $207,200.00 and $297,850.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
