Mechanic III
Accomplishes company objectives by safely being able to diagnose, repair, assemble and fabricate a variety of mechanical equipment in various environments at remote customer sites.
Primary Responsibilities:
Ensure all operations set industry standards for safety (by OSHA & MSHA standards)
Diagnose complex equipment problems and determine repairs needed
Fabricate, construct, install, and troubleshoot power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and engineering blueprints
Design, fabricate and install complex piping systems
Mentor Industrial Mechanic I and Industrial Mechanic II employees
Trouble shoot and repair basic electrical and motor controls
Perform installation, relocation or assembly to industrial machinery and equipment
Be able to travel with short notice for extended durations to handle all of our customer’s needs.
Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities, and Competencies:
Industrial Mechanic III candidate must demonstrate competency by passing skill tests for Industrial Mechanic III, II and I.
Ability to provide both in-house and outside customers safe, clean, reliable, on-time, courteous service
High level knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work of the trade and to work sites.
High level expertise of the standard methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment of the industrial mechanic trade. Specific knowledge of control systems and large-scale networks of equipment and related infrastructure.
Ability to analyze and develop plans, drawings, work samples, specifications and work orders to determine work requirements, sequence of assignments, and personnel needs
Ability to interpret, explain and apply codes, rules and regulations involved in assigned maintenance activities
Must be able to weld at an expert level
Knowledge of the mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic operating characteristics of a variety of equipment and machinery
Ability to detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors
Ability to use precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators etc.) fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors and connect couplings and belts to precise tolerances
Safe and skilled use of rigging, hoisting, and lifting
Ability to lift, carry, and handle items weighing up to 50 pound frequently
Ability to interpret layouts, drawings, blueprints, P&ID’s, manufacturer's specifications, and other technical plans
Expert knowledge of lift operator signaling
Required Training and Certifications:
Must have or obtain MSHA Part 46 24-hour certification within 90-days of hire
Must have or obtain OSHA 10-hour certification within 90-days of hire
Must have or complete forklift certification within 90-days of hire
Must have or complete man lift certification within 90-days of hire
Must have valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Education, Experience, and Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Demonstrated 6-10 years of experience as a mechanic or millwright
Upon job offer or promotion, candidate must pass a drug and/or alcohol test.
