The hourly equivalent for this position is $23.98 - $37.20. 10 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, 3 personal business days, separate sick and vacation paid leaves (prorated for part-time employees), and other employee benefits such as optional insurances and flexible spending plans. OJD will pay you a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job! In this job profile, we offer candidates new to OJD the first two steps of the salary range. You are potentially eligible for a 5% annual increase. Position Highlights The Washington County Circuit Court in Hillsboro, Oregon, is hiring a Criminal Verification Clerk (Court Operations Associate) to join our team in the Criminal Department at the Washington County Law Enforcement Center. In this role, you will check in individuals for their court appearances and help customers who need court-appointed counsel with their paperwork. You will review applications for accuracy and completeness and will conduct brief financial interviews. You will also determine eligibility for court-appointed counsel, research potential attorney conflicts, assign court-appointed attorneys based on availability and case type, and prepare orders and forms for making approval/denial recommendations to the court. You will work closely with the public, defendants, and local indigent defense firms. Your time will also be spent performing data entry, scanning documents, and reporting defendant check-in information to the court. You will provide coverage for the Traffic and Violation Unit by accepting traffic pleas, entering dispositions, and assessing and collecting traffic fines. This position may cross-train and provide coverage for other parts of the Criminal Department. Additionally, you will provide customer service at a public counter, where you will answer questions about payments and balances for criminal and traffic cases. You will process payments made in person, by phone, and by mail, including receipting and entering data into the case management system and the point-of-sale program. Each day, you will prepare a bank deposit slip, balance the cash drawer, and turn in all cash and other payments for deposit or nightly storage in the court safe. Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs. Minimum Qualifications (These must be evident in your resume or work history.) The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent. AND At least three (3) years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents. OR Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position. Special Qualifications (These must be verifiable.) None. Requested Skills and Attributes (These must be addressed in your cover letter.) Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks with strict deadlines in a busy business or professional setting. Experience using a variety of software programs to access and input information and complete various tasks. Experience conducting interviews to obtain personal or financial information. Experience providing customer service to a variety of individuals in challenging circumstances. Skill explaining processes, procedures, or policies. Skill in writing and reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness. Experience handling cash or credit card transactions, generating receipts, and crediting accounts. Experience communicating in Spanish is preferred but not required. Working Conditions This is a full-time position, and the work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per workweek. Occasional after-hours or overtime work may be required. This is a fast-paced office environment, and the person in this position must be able to prioritize the workload to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
