JSerra Catholic High School is Hiring a Calculus Math Teacher Near San Juan Capistrano, CA

2024/2025 School Year

Reports To: Vice Principal of Academics / Department Chair Job Status: 10-month, full-time, exempt

Compensation Information: Salary range $56,320 - $85,000, commensurate with experience. This position is
eligible for benefits (medical, dental, vision), generous PTO and holiday schedule, 401(k) savings plan with school
match, higher education tuition reimbursement, and 50 % tuition remission for employee’s children attending
JSerra.
Description: JSerra Catholic High School is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced instructor to teach
Calculus, AP Calculus A/B and AP Calculus B/C and other courses within our Mathematics department as needed.
The ideal candidate for this position will be an individual who enjoys working with highly motivated high school
aged students and their families and has strong communication skills with ability to motivate and inspire
learning. Applicants should have the ability to participate in shared decision-making in a team environment,
have excellent oral and written communicative skills and be proficient using technology.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering lessons to students in class
  • Assigning, correcting and grading student work
  • Assessing, recording and reporting on student progress and behaviors
  • Providing oral and written student assessments
  • Ensure proper preparation of students for AP examinations
  • Communicating, consulting and cooperating with other members of the school’s staff
  • Advising and cooperating with the Head of Curriculum, Head of Administration, and Department Chair
  • Collaborative work with other teachers in the preparation and development of courses of study,
teaching materials, teaching programs, and methods of teaching and assessment
  • Participating in In-Service education and training courses
  • Participating in staff, group or other meetings related to the school
  • Supervise students outside of the classroom, such as at lunchtime or during detention

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills – both in writing and as a speaker
  • Proficiency in the development of curriculum at the secondary level
  • Proficiency in assessing student progress and maintaining accurate records via the school’s on-line

grading program

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or California Single-Subject Math Teaching Credential required
• 5 Years prior High School teaching experience with exposure and success with AP Calculus coursework

when communicating on the telephone or in person.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment described herein is representative of those an employee
encounters while performing the essential function of this job. Primarily office environment with controlled
temperature conditions and exposure to environmental factors and hazardous physical substances are minimal
and pose little to no risk of injury. Occasional driving to meetings and/or events may be required.

will” in accord with general employment practices in California. Under this employment relationship, Employee
is free to end his/her employment with the School for any reason at any time, with or without notice. Likewise,
the School may end Employee’s employment at any time, with or without cause or notice, pursuant to this “at-
will” provision. No manager, supervisor, or employee of the School shall have any authority to enter into an
employment agreement, express or implied, with Employee providing for employment other than at-will. With
the exception of this employment “at-will” provision and the Arbitration Agreement, any of the terms and
conditions of employment with the School may be modified at the sole discretion of the School with or without
cause or notice at any time.
