As a Merchant Services Collections Specialist in Operations, you will be responsible for the collection of credit card chargebacks, fees, as well as other disputed cardholder items. You will locate and contact Merchants by telephone and mail, handle skip-tracing assignments, assess the severity of delinquency, and make decisions based on the firm's established criteria. You will negotiate payment arrangements and will also act as key liaison with other internal groups to promptly eliminate payment and merchant funding roadblocks. 

Job responsibilities:

• Collect credit card chargebacks, fees, as well as other disputed cardholder items
• Locate and contact Merchants by telephone and mail
• Skip trace and assess the severity of delinquency.
• Make decisions based on the firm's established criteria. 
• Negotiate payment arrangements and act as key liaison with other internal groups to promptly eliminate payment and merchant funding roadblocks.
• advise merchants of the consequences of not meeting their obligations.
• Play an active role requesting merchant terminations as well as the return (or billing) of rented equipment. 
• Manage a Collections queue using the firm’s proprietary Collections system (PCM) while navigating a complex multi-systems environment.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Post-secondary Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, or related discipline.
• Excellent PC and keyboarding skills, MS Office products, intermediate Word & Excel proficiency, along with a general and solid aptitude for technology.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Proven self-starter, results oriented, and team player.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

• Commercial accounts receivable collection experience will be considered an asset, and so will Merchant Acquiring experience in a front-line support role.
• Banking / Commercial / Payment Processing Industry experience preferred.
• Demonstrated commercial accounts receivable collection preferred.

Schedule: Monday – Friday / 8am - 5pm 

This position may require you to work non-traditional hours and/or additional hours as business needs arise.
