THE COMPANY
Jones Fish is an industry leader in aquatic resource management and also provides pond aeration/fountain services and gamefish stocking. Over the years, the Company has grown from a small, two-man operation in southwestern Ohio to an industry leader with ten locations servicing Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Illinois, Wisconsin, Alabama, Georgia, and the Carolinas and a proficient staff of college-educated biologists.
Jones Fish’s largest service offering is its lake management business which provides route-based, contractual professional pond and lake management services to control for aquatic vegetation, excess nutrients, harmful algae and general appearance. The Company’s skilled biologists treat a range of different lakes and ponds and conditions encountered in the field across a variety of residential and commercial customers.
Purchased in February 2022 by Fort Point Capital, Jones Fish has since made three acquisitions with plans to continue growth organically and acquisitively. The combined entities were built on a foundation of exceptional customer service. THE ROLE
Jones Fish is seeking an experienced Strategic Sourcing Director to join our growing team. The Strategic Sourcing Director would oversee the buying of materials and capital expenditures for the Company and assist to integrate new acquisitions into a centralized purchasing system. This job involves negotiating prices and terms with vendors, evaluating the quality and alternatives for products, managing inventory stocking levels across the Company, and putting in place a continuity plan for critical product needs. In addition to material purchases, the Strategic Sourcing Director would purchase capital expenditures needs for the Company and assist in negotiating large service contracts when necessary. This is a “build-it” opportunity and will require comfort in all facets of purchasing both as a sourcing strategist, but also to oversee the execution of a centralized purchasing system.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage all aspects of the RFQ process, contracts, cost and rebate negotiations, and awarding of the business for inventory purchases (~$10M annually) and capex purchases (>$1M annually)
  • Keep appropriate stock levels on all inventoried goods and assess options for consignment and buying in bulk versus minimum order quantities.
  • Create and implement the Company’s purchasing strategy and establish policies and procedures for the Company to follow in regards to requisitions, purchasing approvals, and continuity plans for supply constraints or critical materials.
  • Oversee and manage the purchasing manager that will run the day-to-day processing of orders placed with suppliers, manage return-to-vendor requests, verify receipt and payment, and review inventory stock levels
  • Oversee the purchasing system to manage the flow of requisitions, approvals, and purchase orders.
  • Complete an annual inventory plan and capex plan and establish a budget as part of the Company’s annual budget process.
  • Analyze existing supplier agreements and identify spend reduction opportunities.
  • Meet with various suppliers in the lake management industry and attend trade shows and conferences to seek out new suppliers and track trends in the industry.
  • Establish and lead supplier review meetings with key suppliers and members of Jones Fish management
  • Maintain compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements and forms.
  • Key member of the acquisition integration team to integrate organizations into a centralized purchasing process and identify opportunities for cost reductions.
  • Work with the COO and 3rd party fleet management provider to purchase and deliver on capex requirements for the operations of the business.
  • Monitor KPI indicators, such as inventory turns, supplier on time delivery, actual spend versus budget, and cost savings / cost avoidance.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a purchasing management position
  • Must possess excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to drive cohesion and collaboration among many different people and functions
  • Strong leadership skills and strategic vision
  • Practical project management and execution skills
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort with data analysis to draw insights / recommendations
  • Experience in systems – NetSuite is a plus
  • Experience with acquisitions and integration processes is a plus
  • Think like a CFO – capable of making short-term cost and long-term strategy decisions
  • Have strong technical and business acumen, be detail-oriented with a “roll-up-your-sleeves doer” mentality
  • Ability to interface well with executive management, branch managers, and biologists
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing needs and dynamics
  • Strong organizational / administrative skills
  • Confidence, humility, and good judgement; must be capable of acting as a trusted partner and advisor to the management team
  • Customer service mentality; effective listener, responsive, proactive
  • Goal-oriented; must be a self-starter who is comfortable being held accountable and holding others accountable
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
  • Bachelor’s degree required; concentration in business, finance or manufacturing preferred
