ABOUT THE POSITION

The Product Manager will be charged with owning the success of the Product Group and leading New Product Development in the cross-functional Product Management Team. Within product development the Product Manager will provide market research and guidelines for existing products and new development initiatives. Project management and communication skills are critical to this role. 

Regular travel to events and customers will keep the Associate Product Manager close to market knowledge and assist Sales and Marketing initiatives. 

Key Deliverables

  • Drive increases in performance to Product Group sales and profitability
  • Manage new product development programs and lead cross-functional team to deliver quality products on schedule within financial targets
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert and Voice of Customer for relevant products
  • Execute Custom Equipment Request Process for appeals from field sales
  • Regularly update Senior Leadership Team on progress of programs

Key Activities & Responsibilities

  • Organizes cross-functional team for Product programs to achieve objectives regarding revenue and market share. Provides and manages metrics for these goals.
  • Identifies market potential, establishes pricing and market strategies, estimates potential sales, introduces market/distribution channel issues and manages new product development.
  • Plans, organizes and coordinates assigned programs to ensure accomplishment of financial/budgetary goals and optimum allocation of resources.
  • Plans, conducts, and documents market research to identify opportunities for increased sales.
  • Defines marketing guidelines for new product development. Provides payback analysis and product specifications. Holds product development progress meetings with Product Development Teams.
  • Analyzes competitive products and provides summarized information to Sales Department and Product Management Teams.
  • Works closely with customers to gain market knowledge for product refinement and development.
  • Provides technical expertise and product knowledge to advertising department.

  • Project Management is critical to balance cost, quality, and schedules
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Interpersonal relationship building
  • Microsoft Office Skills
  • Experience with Asana project management software is a plus

Supervisor and Leadership Expectations

  • This role does not have supervisory or managerial responsibilities
  • This role has budgetary and program management responsibilities, but no direct reports.

Travel Requirements: 25% of travel, including regional and occasional international

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Office

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of injury in an office environment and occasionally a manufacturing shop plant environment. Duties include a typical office setting including extensive computer work, sitting or standing. Travel will include visits to roadwork and construction jobsites.
