Johns Hopkins Medicine is Hiring a Director of Professional Practice - Magnet Program Near Baltimore, MD

Job Summary

The Director of Professional Practice Programs is responsible for partnering with senior nursing leadership in establishing goals and coordinating programs, initiatives, and projects for the department of nursing. The Director of Professional Programs is responsible for creating structures and processes used to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate defined programs and projects for all levels of nursing, and serves as a consultant to other nursing and hospital departments.

  • Functions as an expert by researching, gathering data and recommending change to improve practice to support operations in nursing care areas.
  • Participates as a clinical leader in the development, implementation and evaluation of JHH/JHBMC organizational goals, objectives and strategic plan.
  • Manages the strategic planning and directional oversight to create structure and processes for the Office of Professional Practice programs.
  • Accountable for the development and monitoring of the program budgets. Assures cost effective use of resources.
  • Integrates, aligns, and synthesizes department plans with division and corporate priorities.
  • Collaborates with other program directors and hospital and nursing leaders to achieve organization priorities and innovations (e.g., Magnet recognition status).
  • Serves as an authority for coordinating and making decisions regarding defined programs/projects.
  • Functions as role model, mentor and change agent for nursing professionals and other health care providers.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited school of nursing required. A doctorate degree is preferred.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland or an approved compact state. Certification in area of specialty.
  • Five years of clinical nursing experience with at least two years of interdepartmental program/project management including supervisory experience.
