Position Summary:

The Contracting & Payor Relations Administrator II reports to the Senior Director of Payor Relations and ensures complete execution and compliance with the administration of managed care contracts and payer policies and procedures. Provides direction and serves as a resource for staff at all JHM Operational Units and Senior Management levels and front-line staff regarding Managed Care Contracts. The position works with managed care payors to solve higher-level operational problems. The position provides contract surveillance and maintenance of JHM Managed Care Reference Materials and the Managed Care website. The position will support Johns Hopkins clinical entities in the community and the National Capital area, so local travel is required. This position is part of a team of similar employees. The Contracting & Payor Relations Administrator II must be a self-motivated individual!

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration or related field; A Master’s Degree in related field is preferred; Some work experience may be substituted for educational requirement
  • 7 years experience in a health care environment or human services with a minimum of 3 of those years working on insurance issues with an emphasis on clinical operations, contract management, financial counseling, or training
  • Knowledge of managed care and health care concepts and terminology; Knowledge of the health care industry
  • Ability to interpret health care policies
  • Knowledge of health care contract administration to include the relationship among operational units involved in executing and maintaining contracts
  • Knowledge of hospital and physician billing systems and practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with Johns Hopkins employees at all levels (physicians, nurses, clinic managers, and office staff), plan representatives, as well as plan beneficiaries and other external business-related associates
  • Excellent independent research skills
  • Analytical and decision-making skills to solve complex problems
  • Ability to effectively facilitate meetings and coordinate efforts among multiple departments
  • Strong project management skills to prioritize multiple initiatives and assigned tasks
