This is a part-time, 12 month, non-exempt, grant-funded position that reports to the Manager of Academic Talent Search and is located on the JWCC Campus in Quincy, Illinois.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for providing support to the Academic Talent Search program, which promotes the completion of secondary education and entry into post-secondary education for district students who primarily are first generation and/or meet income guidelines. This position is responsible for maintaining the database; creating correspondence; recording meetings; scheduling and publicizing events; and preparing newsletters, brochures and other materials for the program for distribution. Academic Talent Search is a TRIO program funded by grants from the Department of Education. Hours are flexible during normal business hours, Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm and Friday 8am-12pm, with some occasional nights and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS

An associate degree and one year of office experience is required. Must have excellent organizational and communication skills, be able to relate well to a diverse student population and handle confidential matters with discretion. This position requires strong computer skills. Preference will be given to applicants who are examples of the targeted population.
