Job Summary:
We are seeking assistance with estimating and entry-level project management. The Construction Estimator will be responsible for managing the bid calendar, analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, material tracking, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for construction projects.
Anticipated work locations include our corporate office and/or active jobsites in greater Chicagoland, personal transportation and work boots are required. Prospective employees should be interested in obtaining commercial construction experience and knowledge. The candidate must be detail-oriented and a quick learner.
Experience with the following are a plus: AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center, scheduling software, project management software, estimating software, and GPS layout equipment.
Duties:
- Conduct pre-bid and pre-construction site visits
-Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects
- Analyze project plans and specifications to determine the overall estimated costs
- Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, architects, and engineers to gather necessary data
- Utilize software such as Bluebeam and Sage Estimating for estimating purposes
- Negotiate with vendors, and subcontractors to secure the best pricing for materials and services
- Develop project schedules and timelines
- Monitor project progress to ensure cost control and adherence to budget
- Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and stakeholders throughout the estimation process
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field preferred
- Proven experience in construction estimating
- Proficiency in construction estimating software such as Bluebeam and Sage Estimating
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Excellent negotiation skills for securing competitive pricing from vendors and subcontractors
- Knowledge of contract laws and regulations within the construction industry
- Strong analytical skills for accurate pricing assessments
- Basic understanding of construction codes and OSHA safety requirements Preferred.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints/drawings and relevant contract documents Preferred
- A valid Driver's License may be required
Work Schedule: 8:00-4:30PM in the field and 8:30am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday, or as needed to meet business needs.

This job generally operates in conditions that includes an indoor and outdoor environment based on tasks performed. Conditions may include varying climate, moderate to high noise levels, slippery surfaces, carpeted, linoleum, hard surfaced floors or cement, cold temperatures below 32° and above 90° Fahrenheit. While performing the duties of this job, employees must be able to regularly sit or stand, movement to include, but not limited to, walking, bending, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders up to 12” feet, reaching above/below shoulder, crouching, carrying, pushing, and pulling a maximum of 40 pounds.
This position requires close visual acuity to perform an activity such as reading, writing, viewing a computer terminal and performing physical tasks. This position requires regular and effective communication with others, both written and verbally.
The ability and means to travel locally, overnight, in specific regions or states via automobile and airplane may be required.
