Job Summary:
The Desktop Support Technician I must be a hands on individual to perform various Information Technology (IT) functions to support the agency. The primary focus is to support end users with their computer needs in a supportive and professional manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintains confidentiality concerning all the information being handled; all activities must be honest and legal. In some cases HIPAA requirements will apply. Professional conduct and a high degree of integrity are expected at all times. Job tasks are to be completed with a high degree of accuracy while meeting deadlines.
2. Acts as the initial point of contact for computer and system related issues and needs.
3. Resolves and documents any technical support issues or needs within the employee’s responsibilities.
4. Assists with the deployment of end user devices; such as computers, tablets, phones, and peripherals.
5. Monitors and maintains systems related to the above job duties.
6. Assists the IT Director with various projects as needed.
Education Requirements:
Associate's Degree in an Information Technology (IT) related field.
Experience and Skill Requirements:
• Ability to read and interpret documents and manuals relating to their responsibilities, to write routine reports and correspondence, and to communicate effectively and clearly.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and access to transportation.
Complexities:
Varying work assignments and schedules. Moderate amount of judgement and discretion with what/how/when to do it.
Accountability:
Work involves a moderate, but constant opportunity for error, limited only by daily, periodic or subsequent spot checks.
Internal Communication:
Normal courtesy is required while occasionally giving or receiving information as a service to other groups/departments.
External Communication:
Occasional contacts of importance, possibly involving working out problems with tact and flexibility of viewpoint.
Physical Requirements:
Work requires some physical exertion such as moderate periods of standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping stretching, reaching etc. Recurring lifting of moderately heavy items up to 50 lbs. may be required.
Work Environment:
The work involves everyday risks or discomfort which require normal safety precautions, such as avoidance of falls, etc. The work area is adequately lit, heated and ventilated.
