John A. Logan College is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position in Dental Assisting to begin Fall 2024. Education & Experience Requirements

Education: Associate Degree in Dental Assisting or related field

Experience: Three (3) years of professional experience in dental assisting; strong communication skills; proficient with technology

Education Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in discipline-related field

Experience Preferred: More than five (5) years of professional experience in dental assisting; teaching or other experience in dental education; training in pedagogy; training in HIPPA and OSHA standards; curriculum development experience

Special Requirements: Current Certified Dental Assistant (CDA), including coronal polish and pit and fissure sealant; healthcare provider CPR

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

· Foster and promote a collegial atmosphere, prioritizing student learning and success

· Deliver high-quality instruction in various Dental Assisting courses

· Develop new courses that cater to the needs of the diverse student population and adapt to the evolving educational landscape

· Fulfill the academic year's contractual obligations for fall and spring semesters

· Teach a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester and hold eight office hours per week for student consultation during the fall and spring semesters

· Additional teaching opportunities with compensation may be available in the summer semester.

· Be available to teach classes during the day, evenings, and/or weekends as per the schedule of classes

Other duties as assigned; duties must be performed on the John A. Logan College campus or designated location
