John A. Logan College is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position in Auto Services Technology to begin Fall 2024. Education & Experience Requirements
Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Automotive, Workforce Education, or closely related field or discipline
Experience Required: The candidate must have five years of work experience in the automotive industry
Education Preferred: Community college teaching experience; online teaching experience; and / or curriculum development experience
Essential Functions & Position Duties
Foster and promote a collegial atmosphere, prioritizing student learning and success. Deliver high-quality instruction in various auto services courses such as engine repair, drivetrain basics, brakes, steering and suspension, automotive services labs, automotive HVAC, Hybrid/EV diagnostics, and other courses as needed. In addition to teaching existing courses and coordinating open labs / shop environment, this position will be responsible for developing new courses that align with the needs of our diverse student population and evolving educational landscape. Fulfill contractual obligations covering the academic year, consisting of fall and spring semesters. Teach a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester and hold eight office hours per week for student consultation during each of the fall and spring semesters. Additional teaching opportunities with compensation may be available in the summer semester. Be available to teach classes during the day, evenings, and/or weekends as per the schedule of classes. Full-time faculty members are provided with private offices and have access to excellent support services. Other duties as assigned. Duties must be performed on the John A. Logan College campus or designated location.
