Position Summary:

University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Health Care Information Systems is seeking an IT Support Consultant to assist with the implementationof Raul andnursecallsystemsthroughouttheenterprise,byworking directlywithcontractorsandendusers.Workwillbeperformed inanactive construction inpatient,and aclinicalsetting.OtherdutieswillincludetheongoingsupportofallUIHCnursecallsystemswithinthe greaterIowaCity/Coralvillemetroarea.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assistwithrolloutofstandardizednursecallsystemsandsubsystemsfacilitywide.
  • Assistwithstatementofworkandfloorplansthatshowexistingsystemsfordemolitionandnew installation.
  • Troubleshoots and provides technical support on hardware and software applications and integrations.
  • Providesdirectenduserassistance.
  • Evaluates new and existing nurse call hardware and software for areas of insufficiencies and redundancies.
  • Providesinputtomanagementforunitstafftechnicaleducationandothersupportactivities, as required.
  • Worksdirectlywithenduserstoprovidetraining.
  • Take self-study and vendor sponsored classes pertaining to technical system software and hardware, as needed.
  • Assistwithupdatingsystemdocumentationtoensureupdatedknowledgetransfer.
  • Assistwiththeimplementationofapprovedprojects,providingprojectsupportandservices.
  • Maymanagesmallprojectsoroneormorephasesoflargerprojects.
  • Providesfunctionaland/oradministrativesupervisiontoassignedstaff.
  • Participates with management in interviewing and evaluating candidates when vacancies in unit staff occur.

Salary: $48,500 to commensurate – 4A

Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Experience Requirements

  • Experience(typically1-3years)configuring,troubleshooting,andsupportingintegrated communicationssystems.
  • Workingknowledgeofelectriccircuitsandwiringinlow-voltageapplications,toincludeworking fromcircuitdiagrams,wiringschematics,andblueprints/floorplans.
  • Excellentoralandwrittencommunicationskillsinordertocommunicateeffectivelywithadiverse populationoftechnicalandnon-technicalstaff.
  • Abilitytomoveandinstallequipment,ascend/descendladders,andusetoolseffectively.
  • Demonstratedabilitytoworkindependentlywithastrongcustomerservicefocus.
  • Strongattentiontodetail,highlyorganized,abilitytoanalyzecomplexworkflowproblems, and recommend solutions.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with nurse call systems (Rauland, Ascom, and Dukane), subsystems, and integrations.
  • Experiencewithtechnicalprocessdocumentation.
  • Knowledgeofservers,virtualservers,computernetworking,andnetworktopology.
  • Experiencewithend-usersupportandtraining.
  • Experienceworkingonand/oroverseeingprojectswhileadheringtodeadlines.
  • FamiliarwithAutoCADandVisioforcreationofScopeofWork.
  • Experienceworkinginahospitalorsimilarhealthcaresetting.
  • Knowledge of UL1069 and NFPA99 requirements.
