NIST’s roles under the CHIPS Act are as financial steward of the CHIPS Incentives Program and as scientific leader for the CHIPS R&D Program. In executing these programs, the CHIPS program is required to meet aggressive deadlines to issue funding announcements, set application deadlines, and issue decisions on awards, with varying timelines associated with various programs. NIST requires an integrated approach for program administration across the grants and projects lifecycle, including consistent processes, program management and on-going support.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviewing pre-applications and applications for completeness, quality, and credibility using a merit review guidebook provided by CBO
  • Providing subject matter expertise on workforce development
  • Helping to determine credibility of workforce partnerships indicated by applicants.
  • Evaluating incentive requests based on sources and uses of funds submitted in applications.
  • Providing written feedback that will be compiled with feedback from other reviewers.
  • Providing input on workforce development milestones tied to budget requests.
  • Providing input on workforce development terms for awards
Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • A minimum of ten (10) years experience in the workforce development field

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described herein are representative of those which may need to be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Employees must possess the ability to work in an office environment.

If required, employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle which may require sitting for prolonged periods of time to visit other company sites. Must have hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups and over the telephone. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. This position may require an employee to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance, reach, push, and pull. The employee may also be required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
