Supervisor Role: No Hourly, NonexemptOverall Descriptions of the Position: Personal Injury Paralegals at The Gori Law Firm will assist attorneys in preparing legal documents, research to support legal proceedings, and initiate legal action. Position Requirements:
  • 5 years of Plaintiff's personal injury or workers compensation experience
  • Competent to proficient knowledge and demonstrated skill set in:
    • MS Office Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook
    • Illinois and Missouri WC
    • Legal terms, language, and writing
    • Client and document management systems
    • Legal procedures and processes for case management
  • Ability to type quickly and accurately
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers
  • Self-motivated and well-organized
  • Customer Service skills preferred
  • Punctual and predictable attendance
  • Job duties must be regularly performed in the office
  • Physical Requirements: Position is mostly sitting at a desk in an office environment; requires regular lifting of 30 lbs; max 60 lbs; ability to sit, stand, reach, kneel, and lift objects above head-height (>20lbs) required.
Position Duties (including, but not limited to):
  • Analyze and summarize medical bills and medical records
  • Ascertain liens and subrogation claims
  • Prepare and format basic discovery
  • Prepare affidavits or other documents, such as legal correspondence.
  • Maintain documents in a paper and electronic filing system. Enter new information if necessary.
  • Prepare legal documents, including briefs, motions, pleadings, appeals, and contracts.
  • Investigate facts and law of cases and search pertinent sources, such as public records, to determine cause of action.
  • Electronic filing with courts
  • Write case summaries for attorneys which include all relevant information.
  • Maintain trial docket and ensure that attorneys have all necessary information before a trial date.
  • Request documents as necessary.
  • Maintain progress of cases on tracking chart.
  • Contact clients as necessary.
  • Calendar hearings and deadlines appropriately.
  • Perform clerical and receptionist duties as necessary
Education, Certificates and Licenses:
  • Associates or bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or similar field
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background check.
