Job Summary

A medical imaging assistant works in the radiology department of a hospital, outpatient clinic or other health care facility. They serve as a valued member of a health care team, assisting the department in the needs to allow for efficient workflow. Patients rely on them to make their radiology experience both pleasant and efficient.

Frye Regional Medical Center, located in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina is a 355-bed acute care hospital, 81-bed Behavioral Health facility and more than 70 primary and specialty care providers.

Essential Functions

  • Care for patients by answering questions and preparing them for imaging services, assists in paperwork (i.e. enter orders, logging in patients, burning CD’s, etc.), transports patients to and from imaging services, pulls previous imaging and answers phone as needed and also communicates with other members of the health care team to coordinate patient care.
  • In addition to working with patients, a medical imaging assistant may also be required to perform administrative tasks. This can include duties such as data entry, copying, faxing and filing. They are expected to be a team player who is willing to assist their colleagues with tasks that may go beyond the scope of their general duties.

Minimum Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Prefer 1-2 years experience in Healthcare or medical terminology class

Licenses/Certifications

  • Current AART Certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
