Overview:
NeuroPsychiatric Hospitals is looking for a Facility Chief Executive Officer at NeuroPsychiatric Hospital of Indianapolis in Indianapolis, IN. NPH is the national leader in providing medical and neurobehavioral care to patients in acute psychiatric distress. You will be joining a team of rock star staff who provide exceptional, patient-centered care and understand our patients are always our number one priority! The Board of Directors in conjunction with the President and COO, shall appoint a CEO who is responsible for the overall administrative management and operation of the hospital(s). This includes functions in Planning, Financial Management, Continuous Quality Improvement, Human Resources Management and day-to-day Operational Management. The CEO shall have the necessary authority to effect this responsibility, subject to such policies as may be adopted by the board or any committees to which the board has delegated power for such action. The CEO shall act as the duly authorized representative of the board in all matters except those in which the board has formally designated some other person or group to act. Oversees and directs total hospital operation to achieve established goals and objectives within the framework of the hospital’s mission.

Responsibilities:
Participates with the board in charting the course the hospital is to take in response to developing needs of the commonality.
Evaluates the cost effectiveness of the hospital(s), recommends long-range plans that support the institution's philosophy and general objectives.
Informs and interests directors in current trends, issues, problems, and activities in health care generally, in community health needs, and in the institution to facilitate policy making. Recommends hospital(s) policy positions concerning legislation, government administrative policies, and other matters of policy.
Attends all Board of Director meetings and its committees and act as its representative at medical staff meetings.
Designate in writing to the Board of Directors and Leadership team an administrative officer to serve during his or her absence.
Ensures the attainment of hospital objectives through the selection, development, motivation, and evaluation of hospital personnel through facilitating with their directors and the Human Resource Department, Human Resources for the facility(s).
Specifies personnel accountabilities and qualifications are commensurate with anticipated job responsibilities and evaluates performance annually.
Establishes appropriate departmentalization and delegation. Ensures licensures are in place for all required health care workers.
Leads in educational programs, participates as teacher and preceptor. Pursues formal and informal education in health care management. Ensures the orientation of all new employees to department, service, and personnel policies.
Establish criteria for each director by setting the educational, experience, professional licensing requirements of each.
Negotiates professional contracts and sees that appropriate salary structures are developed and maintained through HR.
Directs departmental policies and procedures and verifies annual review.
Monitors the adequacy of the hospital(s) medical activities through coordination with the board, medical staff, and nursing personnel, and the policies needed to assure acceptable health care services.
Assures institutional operating stability by creating a working environment that is satisfactory to staff physicians.
Verifies that policies are in place for communicating with physicians concerning an inpatient emergency.
Maintaining a current roster of members of the medical staff and their service categories.
Promotes health care services that are produced in a cost-effective manner (trying to employ economy while maintaining an acceptable level of quality).
Assures the sound fiscal operation of the hospital(s) including timely, accurate, and comprehensive development of an annual budget and its implementation.
Plans for capital equipment through budget and obtains approvals for capital purchases above specified threshold. Plans the use of physical resources of the hospital(s) and insures against physical damages.
Arranges contractual relationships with consultants, contractors, architects, etc., on behalf of the board in planning and developing facilities, finances, and personnel programs.
Ensures compliance with and regulations of governing hospitals and the rules of accrediting bodies by continually monitoring the organization's service delivery and initiating changes as required. .
Encourages the integration of the hospital(s) within the community by using effective communication and public relations program.
Listens to the auxiliary, staff, and volunteers to improve service and generate community involvement with the hospital(s). Speaks to community groups concerning health problems and new programs.
Represents the board to the community and the hospital(s) in state and national associations concerned with health care delivery.
Initiates, develops, and maintains cooperative relationships with the business community and with other hospitals.
Fosters a smoothly functioning, efficient organization through timely and effective resolution of disruptions.
Initiating change as required for all services including those by arrangement, agreement and contract.
Assures that appropriate safety precautions are followed.
Coordinates with local, regional and state health planning groups and other hospital services providers so that effective disaster preparedness, emergency service communication and transportation systems are established and maintained.
Oversees annual implementation of internal and external disaster preparedness plans with documentation of outcome.
Ascertains the development, implementation, and monitoring of safety management program under the direction of a safety officer, qualified by experience and/or education.
Ensures safe, appropriate, and adequate transport of patients.
High-stress position based on responsibility for the hospital(s) operation.
Handles detailed, complex concepts and problems and makes rapid decisions regarding administrative issues.
Establishes strong and appropriate supervisor relationships.
Develops smooth and constructive interface relationships with executive colleagues, as well as outside agencies, organizations, and individuals.
Plans and meets deadlines.
Maintains a flexible work schedule to meet various demands of executive management within the hospital.
Hours may be long and irregular.
Conveys a professional and positive image and attitude regarding the hospital.
Demonstrates commitment to continued professional growth and development.
Requires vision adequate for working at a computer and extensive reading.
May require occasional lifting of less than 50 pounds.
Maintains a professional approach with confidentiality. Assures protection and privacy of health information as attained through written, electronic or oral disclosures.
Displays concern and initiative. Is resourceful and calm in emergencies.
Is prompt and efficient with minimal absences.
Cooperates and maintains good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments, and visitors.
Seeks guidance and remains knowledgeable of, and complies with, all applicable federal and state laws, as well as hospital polices that apply to assigned duties.
Complies with hospital expectations regarding ethical behavior and standards of conduct.
Complies with federal and hospital requirements in the areas of protected health.
Understands and adheres to NPH’s compliance standards as they appear in NPH’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and hospital regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
Ensures that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/ GED required.
Bachelor’s degree in hospital administration, health, business, or public health preferred.
Prefer 3 years’ experience in hospital administrative position with responsibility for administrative supervision.
Excellent verbal communication skills necessary in order to instruct and comfort patients and their families. Maintain effective contacts with a variety of Hospital Personnel. Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served.
