Job Overview:

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development, analysis, and enhancement of cutting-edge mechanical systems for nanosatellite communications. This position encompasses a wide array of tasks, from design and analysis to hands-on integration and testing of complex subsystems. Candidates should be versatile, capable of innovative thinking, and ready to tackle the unique challenges of a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Spearhead the design and modeling of hardware for spacecraft and payloads, utilizing Solidworks, and including tools and equipment for ground and lab applications.
• Conduct thorough materials and structural analyses, with a particular focus on vibration and thermal management of space hardware.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure mechanical designs align with overall system requirements.
• Manage the full lifecycle of spacecraft and payload hardware, from integration through testing, to delivery and support of launch activities.
• Design mechanical testing configurations to assess payload communication performance, catering to both lab-based and in-orbit evaluations.
• Perform bench-level mechatronics tasks involving the testing, integration, assembly, and prototyping of hardware.
• Responsible for the development and upkeep of technical documentation throughout the design and development stages.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics.
• Strong background in hardware design, with specific experience in satellite or space hardware projects.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software, particularly Solidworks, and familiarity with 3D printing techniques.
• Expertise in performing thermal analysis on both individual components and integrated systems, ideally using Thermal Desktop.
• Hands-on experience with hardware and electronics integration. Machine shop skills are highly appreciated.
• High level of comfort with computer systems, including Windows or Mac OS and Microsoft Office applications.
