Job Details:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Permanent Controller to join our dynamic finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial health and growth of our organization. As the Permanent Controller, you will oversee all financial and accounting functions, including audit activities, general ledger maintenance, financial statement preparation, and financial reporting. You will also play a pivotal role in managing non-profit federal grants and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. This position requires a self-starter with a strategic mindset, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of financial principles and practices.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage all aspects of accounting operations, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk.
2. Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors; assess any changes necessary.
3. Oversee the production of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
4. Ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
5. Prepare and present financial reports to the board of directors, senior management, and other stakeholders.
6. Manage payroll audit process to ensure accuracy and compliance with federal and state regulations.
7. Oversee the administration and financial oversight of federal grants, ensuring compliance with grantor guidelines and requirements.
8. Develop and implement financial policies and procedures, and ensure that the company is in compliance with all professional standards and regulatory requirements.
9. Collaborate with management to develop financial strategies and plans.
10. Provide leadership and support to the finance team, fostering a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect, and employee satisfaction.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or MBA preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior financial managerial position, with a focus on audit and non-profit accounting.
3. Proven experience in managing year-end audits, payroll audits, and federal grants.
4. Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial reporting, and budgeting.
5. Proficiency in using financial management software and advanced proficiency in Excel.
6. Excellent leadership skills with a proven ability to manage a diverse team.
7. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic orientation and attention to detail.
9. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
10. Experience in a non-profit organization is a plus.
