We are looking for an organized and motivated person who wants to join our team as a Warehouse Specialist. This person will be responsible for working with the team to maintain efficient warehouse operations in the areas of (Shipping, Receiving, and Packaging).
The ideal candidate has a safety mindset, is comfortable working on their feet, focused on meeting quotas and deadlines, and is flexible enough to support any area of the warehouse as needed to maintain an organized and safe environment as a valued team member. Shift: M-F 8AM - 5PM. Compensation is $15-20/hr.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Warehouse Specialist is responsible for the efficient movement, storage, and distribution of materials, tools, equipment, and products within the Jo-Kell Warehouse. This role involves various tasks related to shipping, receiving, inventory management, and maintaining a safe and organized warehouse environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Warehouse Operations/Inventory Management
  • Accurately record quantities of received or dispatched materials using relevant computer software.
  • Unpack containers such as bales, crates, and other packaging.
  • Weigh and count items to be distributed within the warehouse to uphold company standards.
  • Transport materials from receiving or storage areas to shipping locations or other designated areas.
  • Systematically arrange and store materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins based on specified criteria like size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Interpret customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be transported, gathered, or dispatched.
  • Fulfill requisitions, work orders, or material requests, distributing items to shipping or designated route driver storage locations.
  • Assemble customer orders from existing stock, placing them on pallets or shelves, or transferring them to holding areas or shipping departments.
  • Package parcels for mailing.
  • Apply appropriate labeling to materials for identification purposes.
  • Assist in conducting physical inventory counts.
Organization and Safety
  • Safely operate large company vehicles, such as box trucks, for customer deliveries and stock pick-ups while adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols. Maintain valid licensing, credentials, and a commendable driving record.
  • Ensure the warehouse is accessible and safe for employees and salespeople.
  • Maintain cleanliness by sweeping, dusting, and mopping the warehouse area.
  • Organize the warehouse and workspace for consistent orderliness.
  • Adhere to proper safety equipment usage at all times.
Team commitment and collaboration
  • Collaborate in shipping and receiving operations, including unloading trucks, inspecting merchandise, reconciling purchase orders with sales orders, and delivering items to sales associates for processing.
  • May perform facilities maintenance tasks as required.
  • Assist in other areas of operations as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

Education:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), Associates Degree (preferred).
Experience:
  • Experience in product assembly, mechanical or utility construction, or as an electrical technician or electrician with an electrical supply industry or a similar industry.
  • Experience with hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts is advantageous.
Preferred:
  • Two or more years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses/Certification:
  • Valid state driver's license, a clean driving record, and demonstrated proficiency in operating and parking large vehicles.
Abilities
  • Professional and amicable demeanor, with a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting documents such as safety regulations, operational instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Must have poise, be articulate, self-assured, and personable.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
