Job Description

The Vice President of People and Culture is the standard bearer for our values of integrity, respect, professionalism, and excellence. They play a leading role in ensuring our culture is people-centric, and for building lasting relationships with our employees, customers, and the community. This position reports to the President and oversees a team of five, comprised of human resources, payroll functions, and student leadership. It has responsibility for the human resource elements that support our overall business plans. Specific areas include recruiting and hiring, employee engagement, legal compliance, safety and training, benefits, and succession planning for key roles.


Duties/Responsibilities

  • Communicate and support the company’s vision, values, and brand promise.
  • Function as a strategic business partner to the executive management team and a resource for employees and front-line leaders.
  • Serve as the corporate subject matter expert on human resource policy, wage & hour laws, and compliance.
  • Develop strategic recruiting and retention plans to meet the human capital needs of the company.
  • Develop and implement compensation and benefit plans that are competitive and cost-effective.
  • Administer our safety program. Ensure that our people are following safe work practices, and coordinate with outside resources to provide consulting and training.
  • Lead the bi-annual employee survey process. Work with leadership to digest the findings and implement new strategies and recommendations.
  • Directly supervise the Payroll Administrator, People Operations Specialist, People Relations Specialist and People Analyst and Student Leadership Director.
  • Work with the organization to establish a sound plan of management succession.
  • Work directly with our people to build lasting relationships in our dynamic culture.


Requirements

  • Ten years of senior-level leadership in human resources
  • Teamwork – demonstratable ability to work closely with senior executives.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of and experience with various payroll and human resource information systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite


Education

  • A BS/BA from an accredited college/university; MBA or MA/MS in human resources preferred.
  • A minimum of ten years of human resources leadership experience
  • SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to drive for work (clean DMV)

Normal business hours for the People Team is Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm

As an Executive you could be on call for emergencies with employees or the property.
