We’re the New Terminal One (NTO) at John F. Kennedy International Airport, a bold and exciting venture to develop a world class, international terminal that can serve as a global gateway to the New York metropolitan area and the greater United States. The $9 billion first phase is the largest single asset project financing in US history.

It will be built on sites now occupied by Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and the former Terminal 3, where it will anchor JFK’s south side. Construction will take place in phases, with the first phase, including the new arrivals and departures hall and first set of new gates, expected to open in 2026.

NTO will set a new standard for design and service and aspires to obtain a global Top 5 Skytrax rating as one of the finest ten airport terminals in the world.

Who We Are:

We are on the hunt for an experienced and motivated Associate Counsel to join our legal team. This role is perfect for someone who excels in analytical thinking, has an eye for detail, is proactive in solving problems, and can work independently in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

What We Are Looking For:

The ideal candidate will have:

• A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the New York State Bar and in good standing.
• 3-5 years of legal practice, ideally with experience at a reputable law firm or in an in-house counsel role, with a focus on corporate law, governance, and complex commercial agreements. Experience in construction, leasing, finance, and airports/aviation is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft succinct, effective documents.
• The capability to work independently, managing multiple priorities and deadlines efficiently.
• Exceptional organizational skills.
• A proactive, detail-oriented approach with a commitment to high-quality work.
• A strong understanding of corporate governance principles and legal compliance requirements.
• Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with legal research, contract management, and risk management tools.
• Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating effectively with colleagues at all organizational levels.

What You Will Do:

Your role will involve a broad spectrum of responsibilities including:

• Contract Review, Drafting, and Analysis: Handling a wide range of commercial agreements.
• Corporate Governance: Supporting compliance and governance functions.
• Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating legal risks.
• Due Diligence: Conducting reviews in support of corporate transactions.
• Dispute Resolution Support: Assisting in managing litigation matters.
• Legal Research and Analysis: Keeping updated on legal developments.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring the organization meets legal and regulatory standards.
• Training and Education: Developing legal training programs.
• Collaboration: Working with various teams to provide legal support.
• Legal Records Management: Organizing and maintaining legal documents.
