Physician Affiliate Group of New York, P.C. (PAGNY), a multispecialty medical practice group, staffs several municipal hospitals and clinics within New York City through an affiliation agreement with NYC Health Hospitals . PAGNYs corporate staff provides administrative, practice management and human resources services in support of its more than 3,000 clinical providers.

The Associate General Counsel, as part of PAGNYs Office of the General Counsel, is responsible for analyzing, managing, and advising on labor and employment matters for the organization and ensuring compliance with PAGNYs obligations under various collective bargaining agreements and the affiliation agreement with NYC Health Hospitals.

• Manage legal affairs related to labor and employment issues including litigation, arbitrations, and ensuring compliance with all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Provide advice and counsel regarding applicable collective bargaining agreements and engage union representatives to address matters related to the CBA's.
• Represent the organization in state and federal court, before administrative tribunals and governmental bodies, and in healthcare forums.
• Draft memoranda of understanding, position statements, policies and procedures, and various corporate related documents.
• Supervise/monitor the activities of retained outside counsel.
• Develop and present in-house training programs in conjunction with the Human Resources Department.
• Assist in overseeing the compliance program and provide guidance and advice on compliance issues.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and support to promote compliance with applicable laws and regulations and to mitigate risk and liability.
• 5 days per week on site required.

• Law Degree from an accredited law school.
• Licensed and registered to practice law in New York State.
• Eight or more years of relevant, progressive experience as a practicing lawyer required.
• Labor and Employment litigation/arbitration experience and negotiation skills required.
• Experience in unionized healthcare organizations required.
• Employment law knowledge and experience with applicable federal and state laws and regulations required.
• Health care law knowledge related to Stark, anti-kickback, and fraud and abuse, preferred.
• Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision and address a variety of legal issues.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ideal candidate will be a quick study; able to think strategically while also being detail- oriented; work well under pressure and able to juggle multiple priorities; have excellent interpersonal, speaking and writing skills; a strong academic background; excellent analytical and advising skills; and demonstrated judgment and discretion. Looking for someone to take a hands-on role within a small but dynamic legal department.

Annual Salary = $200,000.00 - $225,000.00
