JFCS of Southern Arizona is Hiring a Support Specialist II - Refugee Services Case Manager Near Tucson, AZ

Jewish Family & Children’s Services of Southern Arizona (JFCS) is a nonprofit, non-sectarian social services organization that provides specialized counseling and community services to the greater Tucson community. POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Resettlement Manager, the Case Manager is responsible for all aspects of service delivery to newly arrived refugees. This position plays a critical role in working with families to ensure a safe transition to stability, promote self-sufficiency, and assist with goal attainment. The Case Manager must be able to coordinate program service delivery with community volunteers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Encourage self-sufficiency and independence of newly arriving individuals and families with refugee status
  • Welcome arriving families at the airport
  • Conduct intake and assessments
  • Develop service plans with program participants, empowering them to reach agreed-upon goals and meet program guidelines
  • Assist clients develop skills to reach defined personal and program goals
  • Provide direct assistance to clients based on program and client goal plans, and providing follow up services as needed
  • Make appropriate and meaningful referrals
  • Explain application procedures to individuals and/or assist participants to complete forms
  • Work with colleagues to secure housing and set up apartments with required furniture items
  • Assist clients with applications for social security cards, public assistance, schools, ESL programs, and other community services
  • Connect clients to employment programs, basic needs resources, and ongoing community supports
  • Provide ongoing cultural orientation to program participants
  • Work closely with JFCS colleagues to ensure that refugees are integrated into the broader array of services available in the organization
  • Provide translation and interpretation support for other Refugee Services projects, as needed
  • Maintain positive relationships with community partners relevant to program activities
  • Submit regular reports to track client outcomes, fulfill reporting requirements, and capture client success stories
  • Document all contacts and services in case files, as appropriate
  • Oversee volunteer activities within program and/or with clients
  • Participate in network and community meetings related to program
  • Assist in emergencies as they arise
  • Other duties as assigned

WORK HOURS, SCHEDULE & FLEXIBILITY

There will be evening and weekends that will require your attendance in order to best represent the Agency. Some flexibility in scheduling is required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, preferably in Social Work or a related field
  • Minimum two years’ experience working with refugees or immigrant population
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations preferred
  • Proven ability to work under pressure with deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong motivational and teaching skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically in a multi-cultural setting and with limited-English proficiency speakers. Ability to communicate effectively through a third-party interpreter.
  • International work or study experience and second language abilities a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), internet research, and experience using databases and information gathering systems.
  • Valid driver’s license, Level 1 fingerprint card, proof of COVID-19 vaccine and reliable access to an insured vehicle.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-language environment and able to work through translation services if not fluent in a second language.
  • Must be able to work in a team approach and value collaborative partnerships with families and professionals equally.
  • Must be willing to accept feedback, and respond in professional manner
