Position Title: Job Developer

Organization: Jewish Family Service of San Diego

Department: Refugee Resettlement

Position Type: Full-Time (37.5 hours/week), Non-Exempt

Reports To: PC Program Coordinator

Pay Rate: $23/hour

Position Overview:

JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the Refugee Resettlement team as the Job Developer. In this role, you have the opportunity to use your networking and collaboration skills to make a meaningful difference in your community and help change lives across San Diego. The Job Developer plays an integral role on the team and supports the Employment Team by identifying employers who can provide the first employment opportunity for newly arrived refugees. More specifically, the Job Developer would lead efforts in employer relationships management and client employment preparation from resume creation to on-the-job training. This position reports directly to the Refugee Resettlement Director and works closely with the Employment Program team.

Responsibilities:

  • Explains to employers the benefits of hiring refugees/special immigrant groups and employment support services provided by the agency, and learns about and addresses the unique needs of each employer
  • Provides program information to various businesses, chambers of commerce, and committees, and updates information as needed
  • Provides culturally competent case management to ensure highest level of culturally appropriate service to diverse client population
  • Participates in ongoing trainings and HIAS cohort meeting as assigned
  • Creates marketing and educational materials from workshops to flyers to further coach refugee clients in preparation for their first roles
  • Acts as a collaborative team player with a can-do attitude, flexibility in a busy office environment, and possess quick critical thinking ability to identify creative solutions to complex challenges
  • Data entry, including use of specialized database software
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:

  • Valid California Driver's license
  • Strong computer skills including ability to learn and use specialty database software, proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook, familiarity with web-based applications including Google Docs, Group and Calendar
  • Excellent written, telephone and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-stress situation
  • Ability to work with people from, and within the context of, a variety of cultures in a respectful, culturally sensitive manner
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Completion of all tasks with a high degree of accuracy and in a manner to meet deadline and compliance requirements
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines; strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to contribute both independently and as a team member, to take initiative and follow instructions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the abilities to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

Skills/Abilities We’d Like You to Have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED, or some college, bachelor’s degree desirable
  • Administrative support experience is helpful
  • Fluency in a second language including Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, Burmese, or Karen is helpful
