Jewish Community Alliance is Hiring a Toddler CoTeacher: Full Time, Early Childhood 2-3 year Room Near Portland, ME

Come join the JCA Goldman Family Preschool! We are currently hiring for Full-Time Coteacher to join our strong Toddler team! The position works in the 2-3 year old room. Must have experience and flexibility working with ages 16 mo-3 year olds for group play and combined activities. Interviews will be held through spring/summer with final decisions made by end of June latest to fill the role. This position begins August 26th and can include some training days or orientation hours during summer before first week if desired.

Candidates must be available M-F, 5 days a week, and be able to work until 5 pm a couple of days a week. We are seeking candidates who work collaboratively in a Coteaching team model, are open-minded, flexible, and with strong classroom management and interpersonal skills.

Monthly teacher bonus pay currently applies to this position. Teachers will be required to join the MRTQ Registry and update training for health and safety to qualify.

Program Information:

We are a NAEYC accredited program. Through the 'High Scope' curriculum, combined with a Reggio Emilia approach, we offer child-centered, family-oriented programs for 6 weeks old to 5 years old. Our curriculum exposes children to a broad range of experiences, including meaningful Jewish cultural exploration. Educated and trained professionals bring deep commitment and a love of children to our classrooms. We foster a child's natural instincts and curiosity by providing a nurturing, comfortable, joyful and developmentally appropriate environment.

Schedule and Responsibilities:

Hours during the School Calendar Year will be full-time Monday-Friday with 8 hour shifts scheduled between the hours of 7:45 am - 5 pm. Shifts are based on the enrollment and needs of the program. Full-time Teachers are required to work full time during the academic year and full time for a minimum of four weeks in the summer program. Additional requirements are to attend monthly teacher meetings, planning time with their team, some school year special events, and all professional development days.

  • Work with children between ages 16mo-3 years old indoor and outdoor spaces and joining for neighborhood strolls, school events and field trips.
  • Provide an engaging, safe, and nurturing learning environment, bringing new ideas for activities to engage young children
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students and parents
  • Maintain the health and safety of all students
  • Report writing and portfolio work for each student
  • leading and co-leading parent/teacher conferences
  • Collaborative Team member, attend all Friday Planning sessions, attend all scheduled prof. development days annually.

Other required skills:

  • Previous experience in the early childhood field is required.
  • 2-3 years teaching in classroom environment, group care as lead or cooled teacher is required.
  • Have a CDA, or Associates is the minimum required for this position. Having a B.A. or Masters in the field or similar field is preferred.
  • Passionate about working with children in a variety of settings inside and outside.
  • The candidate must be energetic, positive, patient, and flexible demeanor and ready to have fun!
  • Experience documenting, recording and report writing on growth and development
  • Experience using family apps or ability and willingness to learn
  • Ability to be outside in all kinds of weather for extended periods of time to support building resiliency for all types of weather
  • Ability to build strong connections with children and thier families.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and experience in positive behavior management strategies
  • A level of exceptional patience and physical stamina is called for in this field and position.
  • Strong self care skills, ability to move up and down from the floor, position at the child's level and engage with and observe children during play required inside and outside the building.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $34,000.00 - $41,600.00 per year
