Summary

The JCAmp Site Administrator will work at an offsite program location, supporting the smooth operation of the program. They are responsible for the day-to-day needs of the site, supporting the program directors for JCAmp programs, as well as supervising the teen volunteer program. They can work with others with minimal supervision, demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively, possess good leadership, management, and organizational skills. Patience, enthusiasm, self-control, and dependability are necessary characteristics.

The Site Administrator will support professional communication with staff, parents, and the site, including answering phones, tracking incident reports, and providing room set ups to the facility. The Site Administrator should embody the core values and mission of the JCAmp programs, fostering teamwork, instilling self-confidence in our campers and staff, inspiring themselves and others to make a difference in the words and displaying empathy.

This position requires an on-site 8-week commitment. Camp is in session Monday Friday 9:00 am 3:30 pm, and the position rotates with other leadership staff to cover extended day from 7:30 am 9:00 am and 3:30 pm 6:00 pm. The Site Administrator is required to attend and assist with staff orientations and aid in the set up and breakdown of the program. Some pre-camp planning as well as post-camp recap will also be required.

Essential Functions

  1. Ensure the well-being of each child and staff member in the program by providing the adequate supervision and support necessary for their safety and educational and emotional development.
  2. Serve as a liaison between the JCA and the site.
  3. Ensure the campus is set up properly and as agreed upon for the JCAmps to be successful.
  4. Provide administrative support for all programs at the site.
  5. Serve as frontline recipient of initial communication from parents as holder of the site phone.
  6. Supervise the teen volunteers, including but not limited to leadership training, mentoring, task assignment, signing off on service hours and evaluating performance.
  7. Routinely walk about the camps to ensure things are running smoothly.
  8. Provide feedback to Program Directors on opportunities for improvement.
  9. Support routine staff needs and appreciation events.
  10. To be knowledgeable about the daily schedules and activities.
  11. Handle emergency situations in conjunction with the Program Directors as appropriate.
  12. Assist the Program Directors in providing feedback about the overall program to identify any changes that need to be made for optimum functioning.
  13. Promote enthusiasm and encourage campers and counselors with positivity.
  14. Greet campers and parents and assist daily with camp check in and check out as needed (including release of campers to authorized persons).
  15. Maintain equipment storage and inventory.
  16. Ensure light maintenance is done by the site staff, including trash pickup, cleaning, and replenishing common use areas and bathrooms; they are to keep all areas neat and clean.
  17. Assist in set up and break down of equipment and supplies daily.
  18. React to change productively, handling other unexpected essential tasks as necessary.
  19. To assist in regular camp staff meetings for planning and in-service/orientation education as needed.
  20. Meet all applicable requirements by Florida Department of Children and Families and other agencies and authorities.
  21. Help enforce the JCAmp policies such as sick policies, transportation procedures (if applicable), kosher policy, etc.
  22. Abide by, demonstrate, and implement all expectations of JCAmp staff as set forth in the JCAmp Staff Manual.
  23. Dress appropriately for summer camp activities; keep a professional appearance.

Education and/or Experience

Must have 3 years of experience of organization and administration experience. Experience in summer camp and working with children is appreciated. Experience in behavior or emergency management is a plus.

Language Skills

Ability to speak grammatically correct English and must totally comprehend English when spoken to at a normal speed. Must be able to write using proper English, sentence structure.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read, write and comprehend the concept of time.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to exercise good judgement on when situations can be handled independently and when they need to be communicated or passed to the Program Directors.

Other Skills and Abilities

Must be able to follow directions; must be able to relay information to others; must be able to read memos, notes, and in-service materials; and must be able to successfully complete CPR, first aid and other in-service requirements. Positive background check clearance a must.

Ability to work with computer software programs: Word, Excel and Outlook for example.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be physically fit enough to move, stand, lift, bend, push, or pull children up to 50 pounds if necessary. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee may occasionally be required to run. These physical demands are for a period of up to 8 hours per day.

Work Environment

The working conditions are located on two levels with steps, air-conditioned. The employee must be able to tolerate heat for outdoor portions of the day. The noise level is usually noisy.
