Jewish Association for Services for the Aged is Hiring a Housing Coordinator - Housing Management Services Program Near New York, NY
Shift Schedule: Monday-Friday: 9AM-5PM Hours Per Week: 35
General Responsibilities
The Housing Coordinator reports to the Director of Housing Risk Management and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of waitlists, coordination of activities related to the opening and closing of the waitlists, and updating waiting lists as required by various stakeholders. The Housing Coordinator is responsible for accepting, reviewing, and verifying eligibility for all incoming applications, as well as initial interviews to qualify applicants for move-in at various JHM sites. The Housing Coordinator must have knowledge of HUD regulations, local and state laws, and policies and procedures as required. The successful candidate should be a critical thinker, a strong communicator (both written and verbal) and have the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously. The position is located in JASA’s corporate office in Midtown Manhattan with travel to other locations as assigned, and the potential to work remotely on occasion as determined by the Director of Risk Management.
Primary Responsibilities
Manage all JHM Waitlists including HUD, Mitchell Lama, NYCHA, DHS, and HDC
Conduct applicant interviews to verify eligibility prior to referring applicant to the sites
Process removal of all ineligible applicants from all waiting lists on a regular ongoing basis
Provide applicant assistance to complete application packages, as needed
Perform monthly /quarterly mailing to top-of-list applicants to verify applicant interest
Address extremely complex and difficult questions or factual issues involving interpretation and application of statutes, rules, regulations, or policies.
Maintains open lines of communication with subsidy providers to ensure all applications are completed and submitted for approval timely
Actively communicates with all JHM sites regarding applicant status, scheduling for apartment viewings, and other activities as required
Work closely with the Director of Housing Risk Management to process opening and closing of Waitlists as required
Monthly reporting on all wait list activities to the Director of Risk Management
Perform word processing, database management, copying, printing, scanning, filing, mailing, tracking and other administrative functions and tasks as needed
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school or equivalent
Experience in NYC affordable housing subsidies and programs (preferred)
Previous experience working with low-income families and/or seniors (preferred)
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SmartSheet and Google Workspace
Requirements
