Jelsert Co is Hiring a Forklift Operator Near Chicago, IL
PURPOSE:
Using powered material handling equipment safely in accordance with the department's instructions. Working in our distribution center on Route 38 is available on a variety of shifts. Monday through Friday, including any necessary Saturdays. One will need to put in more than 40 hours a week in this position, as scheduled. Based on each employee's specific work responsibilities and the demands of the department, overtime is necessary and scheduled.
ACOUNTABILITIES:
- Follow Jel Sert's safety guidelines, GMP specifications, and job instructions.
- Pick up the merchandise or supplies from the trailers and load them as instructed on the bill of landing documentation.
- As instructed on the bill of landing documents, remove product and/or supplies from trailers and stage them.
- Establishing and dismantling production lines for products
- transport components from the production lines for final goods.
- Inform the shift lead or supervisor of any problems with quality and safety.
- Perform any further related tasks that may be required, such as precise cycle counting.
- Perform preventative maintenance on the equipment that has been given to you if necessary.
- Work unsupervised and independently.
- Keep the workspace(s) tidy and risk-free.
FOOD SAFETY/QUALITY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow applicable work procedures and instructions; final inspection of product and trucks (Distribution Center) and monitor quality control points (QCP’s).
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Ability to operate motorized industrial equipment, such as a forklift, safely, effectively, and with little risk to materials and completed products.
Ability to pass the forklift certification exam, possess good oral and written English communication skills, thoroughly comprehend GMP and Jel Sert safety protocols, and operate associated equipment such scanners. No prior knowledge is necessary.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Manufacturing/Distribution and fast paced environment, a full range of motion is required (reaching and lifting up to 50 lbs., standing or sitting for the duration of a shift (8 or more hours), continuous work, ability to work independently.
