SUMMARY Counts, inputs, researches and corrects data pertaining to the accurate inventory of Company supplies and materials. This position includes data entry and Manufacturing Order (MO) review of departmental production of candy and packaging information; investigations related to inventory control; auditing and filing of records; cycle counting; other projects and duties as assigned. Assists with coordination of departmental duties and effective distribution of workload. Uses strong operational knowledge to assist clerks with deep-dive investigations and problem solving.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Work on a daily basis in our ERP system (M3) to verify the ingredients and materials used in our production and packaging processes have been recorded correctly in order to maintain accurate inventory and system reporting. This may include:
    • Work with material handlers and production clerks to issue ingredients and materials properly to the MOs and verify that all backflush and staging locations are correct.
    • Verify and cycle count materials and ingredients used in production/packaging; investigate variances and correct appropriately.
  • Cycle count all locations and items as assigned; research, correct, and record results in order to maintain inventory accuracy.
    • Review results with Inventory Control Supervisor/Manager on a routine basis and present suggestions for process and/or systems changes to minimize and eliminate inventory variance.
  • Prepare and distribute routine inventory reports, as assigned.
    • Assist with creation of aging, excess, and obsolete inventory reports.
    • Assist with reconciliation of remote/3PL warehouse inventories.
  • Manage disposition activities of all aging, excess, and obsolete inventory to completion.
  • Responsible for completion of MO and PO transactions and inventory accuracy related to subcontracted work.
  • Assist with training and mentoring of new hires, providing qualitative feedback to management regarding the trainees’ progress.
  • Help monitor and ensure departmental duties are completed each day and provide direction to clerks in the Supervisor or Manager’s absence.
  • Conduct regular reviews of inventory transactions and movement of finished goods and raw materials in all domestic facilities.
  • Responsible for completion of periodic process audits, as defined by the cycle counting program.
  • Monitor date codes of component inventory and ensure proper aging rotation between buildings.
  • Monitor intra-company transfers and receipts (DOs) for proper system movement of inventory.
  • Advise required additions, changes, or deletions of data within M3 as it relates to maintaining accurate item master, warehouse use, primary locations, and product structure accuracy.
  • Assist in training employees for an overall understanding of our systems, both in M3 and RF scanners (DSI).
  • Participate in testing new system processes and DSI scripts.
  • Write and maintain accurate Inventory Control procedures and work instructions.
  • Run command desks at Fiscal Year End inventory, if applicable.
  • Complete special projects or other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Primary tools utilized are a computer requiring specific vocational training or experience in the operation of PC type “networked” computer applications. Individual should be comfortable working in a manufacturing and warehouse environment, be able to work independently, with limited supervision, perform work in a timely and accurate fashion, have acceptable data entry/processing skills, have experience with inventory control application software, and have strong reasoning and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with ERP, MRP, and MS Office is required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proficiency with ERP and MS Office systems, including Word and Excel.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as inventory reports, manufacturing work orders, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, general correspondence and position procedures. Ability to present and speak effectively before groups of employees, supervisors, customers, or the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. In the process of investigating inventory issues, the individual will need to walk all areas of the plant and warehouses to locate products and, on occasion, move individual items to ascertain quantities, climb approved ladders to inspect and count product stored at high level racks. The employee may also be expected to operate a powered lift truck.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Individuals will be investigating inventory issues throughout the facilities and therefore, will be exposed to noise and equipment associated with those areas. Proper safety procedures and GMPs must be followed at all times.
