Under the general supervision of the Director of the Department of Security, the employee in this classification performs professional-level work in administering and managing the Parish Identification Card and Security Access Control System. The position is responsible for issuance of identification cards to all Parish employees and contractors and acts as a system administrator, granting access to buildings and gates throughout the Parish as individuals are networked into the Parish security system. Conducts initial and continual on-site facility inspections, to determine the condition of existing systems and security systems required. The position also applies knowledge of physical security, force protection, and antiterrorism in reviewing, analyzing, and resolving security matters and in making security policy and procedure recommendations. Coordinates with law enforcement and emergency responders during security incidents and investigations. Conducts investigations regarding security breaches and other security related workplace activities. Performs related work, as required. This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or their designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.
Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent; plus, three (3) years of full-time, paid experience working in a law enforcement role or as a physical security specialist, responsible for conducting criminal or employee workplace investigations or for performing on-site threat risk/vulnerability assessments and physical security evaluations.
Preferred: Verifiable graduation from an accredited law enforcement academy or successful completion of verifiable college coursework or training in/closely related to security management.
Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate.
