EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON IN THE DEPARTMENT OF FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT AND HAZARD MITIGATION AND FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The purpose of this position is to perform specialized work under supervision of the director in the areas of Floodplain Management, Community Rating System, and as-needed project coordination. Employee supervises floodplain staff in National Flood Insurance Program compliance and the implementation of Community Rating System document management and outreach projects. Prepares Flood Zone determinations for Jefferson Parish citizens, insurance agents, lending institutions, and real estate brokers. Provides technical guidance through site visits and/or desktop review on various mitigation methods to citizens of Jefferson Parish. Responds to National Flood Insurance Program inquiries posed by Jefferson Parish citizens and insurance agents. Makes inquiries to the FEMA Regional Insurance Specialist and/or the Flood Insurance Advocate as needed. Reviews floodplain related projects provided by State DOTD, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Jefferson Parish Departments to ensure compliance with FEMA guidelines. Maintains, obtains, and prepares all documentation for classification under the Community Rating System program. Performs related duties as required. Requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.NOTE: Employees will be required to obtain a Certification in Floodplain Management (CFM) prior to the completion of their probationary period.

(ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL) The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof.
