JCC Greater Boston is Hiring a Camp Nurse / Healthcare Supervisor, Grades K - 8, Summer Day Camp Near Newton, MA

Do you love working with children, being a valued member of a team, and helping keep children safe and cared for in a dynamic, fun environment? Camp Kaleidoscope, the JCC Greater Boston arts and science day camp, is looking for a Camp Nurse / Healthcare Supervisor. The Camp Nurse is available on-site during the camp day for all campers and camp staff at the Leventhal-Sidman JCC.

Camp Kaleidoscope draws creative youth interested in the arts, science, and the outdoors. Supportive, experienced counselors and teachers guide campers as they develop and build self-confidence. Camp is fast-paced, nurturing, and supportive, as both campers and staff develop lifelong friendships.

Responsibilities in this role include but re not limited to:

  • Ensure staff and camper health examinations are current and on file
  • Communicate with parents and counselors regarding children’s needs and any care received at camp
  • Oversee medical supply inventory and utilization
  • Provide first aid and administer medications
  • Maintain a medical log book according to state standards and regulations
  • Prepare and record accident report forms, as needed
  • Contribute, as needed, in camp special events and initiatives

This position will pay in the range of $6,000 - $9,100 for the summer season, or $2,000 - $4,550 per month, as a starting salary. The salary offered will ultimately be determined by the hours employees will work, the scope of the position, the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications and internal equity. While a full summer commitment is preferred for this role, there is some flexibility.

Schedule

June 17 through August 23, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Mondays through Fridays, Full-time seasonal

Requirements

  • First Aid & CPR Certification (we can arrange for CPR certification if outdated), Massachusetts RN license a plus but not required
  • Enjoy working with children and a strong desire to make a difference every day
  • Strong organizational skills including teamwork, relationship-building skills, the ability to multitask, and the ability to manage situations effectively and diplomatically
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability and commitment to build strong relationships with campers, parents, co-workers, and camp leadership
