Job Description$18-22/hr DOE! Do you have a passion for working in a kitchen AND helping people? Can you work Saturdays and Sundays too? Our client, Everett Gospel Mission, engages with the community to alleviate poverty and is looking for a PT Line Cook / Prep Cook to help achieve this goal. The successful candidate for this Christian, faith-based organization will be able to work weekends and one week day for a total of 24 hours a week. Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies for shift.
Prepare food for service adhering to safety policies (e.g. chopping vegetables, thawing meat, or preparing sauces).
Ability to follow recipes.
Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff.
Answer, report, and follow kitchen Supervisor’s instructions.
Responsible for lead cook duties on weekends.
Clean up work station after meals and take care of leftover food by storing it properly.
Ensure that meals are ready and high quality in a timely fashion.
Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers, volunteers and clients.
Organize and maintain work areas, freezers, coolers, and other food storage areas.
Assists as needed with product inventory and deliveries to pantry.
Cleans and take proper care of ranges, ovens, broilers, fryers, griddles, utensils, and other equipment.
Adheres to all safe food handling principles.
Completes side work and deep cleaning assignments correctly and in a timely manner.
Monitors waste and other food cost controls.
Addresses complaints and concerns promptly in a courteous manner and notifies the Supervisor of any issues.
Assists pantry workers.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
2-3 years of experience in food preparation/kitchen production.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Ability to work weekends.
Desire and ability to be lead cook on the weekends.
Able to defuse tense situations.
Basic mathematical skills.
Proficient knife-handling skills.
Strong knowledge and understanding of basic food handling and safety.
Proven track record working with a diverse population.
Ability to work in an active environment.
