Director, Strategic Communications

In support of our growth and strategic expansion efforts, JANSON is seeking a passionate, purposeful, and problem-solving individual to serve as our Director, Strategic Communications. This role requires proven experience along with the desire to embrace a culture that is results-driven. The Director is responsible for working across teams to develop, plan, and execute our customers’ strategic communication efforts in support of their business and mission priorities. Most of our customized communications clients are within the Department of Defense (DoD) market and familiarity of DoD and the Federal government is paramount.

This position requires a professional who can work successfully in a fast-paced environment and is skilled in all aspects of the communications strategy to help drive client priorities with an ability to provide top quality messaging, plans, stakeholder engagements and various communications products.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The Strategic Communications Director must have at least eight (8) years’ experience in communications.
  • Secret clearance required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 8 years of communications strategy and planning, public relations or public affairs for a medium- to large-sized organization OR Master’s degree and minimum of 6 years of media relations, communications, public relations, or public affairs for a medium- to large-sized organization
  • Federal Government Contracting experience preferred.
  • Excellent briefing skills.
  • Ability to manage program performance, profit, and growth.
  • Self-starter, solution-oriented and strong team player.
  • Willing to both set strategy, and implement, as needed; displays strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Sound judgment in decision making and leadership actions with proven abilities to drive change through creative methods, ideas, and approaches.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advise and guide and support a wide range of contracts within the Customized Communication business unit.
  • Support the customer communications in the planning and analytical execution of developing strategic approaches to customer communications and advocacy, stakeholder relationship management, messaging development and alignment with the customers strategic priorities.
  • Lead the customer communications team’s support to business and mission priorities across their respective markets delivering solutions that best fit their unique communication challenges.
  • Develop actionable communication tactics to bring messages to life at major milestone events, to include major tradeshows, both domestic and international.
  • Support development, execution, and measurement /ROI for our customer communications plans, collaborating with program team leads to ensure messaging alignment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the development, deployment, and activation of strategic media & communication campaigns.
