    Student Worker - Summer


    General Definition of Work
    Working in the school building and outside grounds to assist permanent staff in providing basic custodial duties. Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
    Qualification Requirements
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
    Essential Functions
    Sweeps, vacuums, mops and buffs floors
    Removes trash and recyclables from buildings and surrounding areas and places in appropriate locations.
    Cleans windows and glass doors; removes dust from baseboards, and window sills; cleans tables, desks, walls, chairs and blinds.
    Cleans and restocks restrooms; cleans and disinfects water fountains, door handles, light switches and door plates.
    Assist permanent staff in building and grounds maintenance.
    Completes other duties as assigned.
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    Communicate effectively with supervisor, co-workers, and customers. Exercise good judgment at all times. Organize work tasks logically and efficiently. Recognize safety concerns and adhere to safety procedures. Recognize and communicate building problems and concerns. Use or learn to use various custodial equipment. Use or learn to use cleaning and miscellaneous chemicals. Read labels and follow instructions. Work independently or as part of a group.
    Education and Experience
    Experience relating to essential functions preferred
    Physical Requirements
    This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing and walking, frequently requires using hands to finger, handle or feel, climbing or balancing, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions and occasionally requires speaking or hearing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and tasting or smelling; work requires close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception and color perception; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts within arms -length, operating machines (depending on age requirements), operating motor vehicles or equipment (depending on age requirements) and observing general surroundings and activities; work frequently requires exposure to wet, humid conditions (non-weather), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to outdoor weather conditions, exposure to extreme cold (non-weather) and exposure to extreme heat (non-weather) and occasionally requires working in high, precarious places, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment and exposure to bodily fluids; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
    Schedule
    This position is up to 32 hours per week for the months of June, July and August. Daily report time may be as early as 6:00 a.m.
