Our Controller should be a collaborative and strategic thinker who can work with our CFO and leadership team to provide financial analysis, identify and mitigate financial risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies. We are looking for someone who is mission-driven, self-motivated, and has impeccable attention to detail, who is also an accessible and knowledgeable supervisor who mentors staff and promotes a learning environment.
JAMHI is located in beautiful Juneau, Alaska. Situated in a temperate rainforest that is surrounded by breathtaking mountains and shimmering waterfront, the area is home to more than 100 miles of hiking trails and a vibrant arts scene. Qualifications:
All JAMHI positions require the ability to pass a criminal background check in accordance with the current state regulation requirements and a valid Alaska driver’s license and be able to clear the JAMHI auto insurance screening through the independent insurance carrier and/or if driving.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration strongly preferred, other degrees with relevant experience will be considered.
- Additional professional level experience may substitute for degree.
Experience and Abilities:
- Five (5) years of progressive professional level financial experience required, with accounting, auditing, budget, and corporate finance highly desired.
- Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software
- Experience with non-profit and healthcare organizations strongly preferred.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Thorough knowledge of financial/accounting laws and regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must have ability to work independently, prioritize workload, gather data, reason logically, communicate effectively with officials, employees, private groups, and the public; compose letters or reports utilizing a wide knowledge of vocabulary, grammar and spelling; perform delegated administrative assignments; etc.
